So, one of the underlying issues in various parts of Canada with the perceived 'safety' of using RHD vehicles has been government and public acceptance. It would seem the City of Saskatoon has gotten past this issue and bought RHD vehicles, explicity for the reason of safety. Check out this thread from ivoac: http://www.ivoac.ca/pn/index.php?name=P ... c&start=40
According to the thread, the staff choose the vehicle BECAUSE they could exit from the right-hand side and not step out into traffic. And it's not the police service as initially identified in the thread, but the parking enforcement staff who are using these.
Also, I'm looking for the advertisement from ICBC with the Pajero talked about further in the thread. Keep watching...

Re: Government usage of RHD vehicles
Canada Post uses a whole bunch of RHD vehicles, and so are a lot of my city's street sweepers and garbage collection vehicles. Clearly there's not a massive safety issue or they wouldn't use them at all, and for certain tasks it makes things safer than LHD vehicles.
