The footrest on the left side of the driver's foot well can be removed to allow taller drivers extra room for their left leg. I'm 6'6" and can now stretch my leg out. Remove the black cover; then remove the metal brace underneath via (3) Phillips bolts into the floor board. Once removed, replace the bolts as I believe the holes go right through the floor board and may give you extra ventilation that you may not want! You will now be left with a rectangular bare patch of metal exposed with no carpet. An option that I used to fill it in, was to adhere (using double sided tape) a piece of carpet cut from the extra flap of carpet underneath the passenger side "hood" (when "hood" is up, the section of carpet along the engine compartment.) This way when the passenger seat is down and clipped closed the flap of carpet covers the piece of carpet that I trimmed away. There may be other sections of carpet in our Deli's to use to fill the hole, but this satisfied my needs.
Cheers,
Joe

Re: Extra room for the driver!
I just did this very thing last week! But I covered up the floor with a "pants-saver" type rubber floormat (but meant for rear seats) that I trimmed to fit around the steering column. Much better, roomier and more muddy feet friendly!
(Oh yeah, and "Red Green" would be proud of my temporary method of patching up those screw holes...)
