I was just installing new headlights and was looking for a place to put side parking lights. I notice there is a socket in the clear area blow the front side signals (the ones with the little bump). I have tried every possible light switch I can find and they do not turn on, the bulbs are good. Anyone know what these lights are?
Parking lights come on beside the front signals and in the rear tail lights.
Thanks,

Those are the corner illumination lights, they should go on when you signal a turn

I'm about to order some LED's that I'm going to test in those sockets and see how they work. I've got a little project I'm trying to complete, a spreadsheet that lists all the lights in the Delica and which LED's can be used as replacements. When I've got it done I'll order up the LED's and see how it goes. Problem is for some of those sockets there are a number of different LED options and it's hard to figure out which is the most suitable, and as well, the different vendors seem to have LED's with different spec's.

Thanks for that. I hadn't tried the signals with the headlights turned on so missed it. It all works fine.
I was looking to install a dual element bulb in there for the side parking light. Mazda has dual sockets the same size. It has to be be amber though. Perhaps I can fit a second socket with an amber light in it.

Good idea for the LED lights, but I'm interested to know if there is going to be a problem with the vehicle 'thinking' your lights are burned out.
The way the vehicle 'knows' if your turn signal is burned out is by the current draw. Because LEDs draw so little current, then tend to confuse vehicles into 'thinking' the light is burned out (hence the rapid-click or double-click when turning).
I have some LEDs coming in for the dome lights inside the cabin, which shouldn't present a problem, but they might not be bright enough compared to the 10W bulbs which are normally installed. Will report when received.

Re: Lights below side front signals ?
My side flashers are already LED's and no problems so far with the rapid flash issue, perhaps the systems in the later model Delica's (mine is Dec 92), are different.
For the dome light I've decided not to use the festoon bulb and go with the kit that I posted in the other thread instead.

I used the existing side signal lights for this purpose, they are now wired to be always on, but still flash when you put on the signals, it's an easy fix too.I was just installing new headlights and was looking for a place to put side parking lights.
