who's got a sub?
I'm just curious as to what you guys are using. The local stereo shop wanted to sell me sub-zilla, but I would rather keep some functionality by being able to fully fold down the rear bench if needed. I was looking at compact truck subs, that way I could stuff it under the middle bench. I'm just worried that a Delica is too much open space for one of those subs to handle. What would you guys recommend?

Re: who's got a sub?
I have a 200W 10" sub in a truck/slim box. It sits behind the drivers seat facing the rear and it pounds. Two would be ideal but one does the job just fine. Can't wait to watch a DVD on our next camping trip!
The audio guy at the store said the ideal place for subs would be in the very back facing forward, but we always have other stuff kicking around back there and the little ledge behind the drivers seat was a perfect platform. Good luck in your search.

Check out the eight inch Bazooka, Delica 304. It can be moved around in the van as where you need it ~ or you could take it right out. It comes with a 200 watt pre-amp and it can deliver, as it were.

Re: who's got a sub?
I'm running a 1200 watt 12 inch sub in a beer fridge sized box. It sits right at the back of the van facing the rear hatch. Facing the woofer directly at something will increase its overall effectiveness in the van. It something to do with wavelength, but I don't like being technical. I have had it facing forward, and the resulting sound is much hollower (see, real technical) than when the sound bounces of something.

Re: who's got a sub?
There's another recent thread which discusses subs. Might be found under "stereo" and some folks are using various slim models. See futureshop for some samples. I think you can get one which will sit on the hump behind the driver or passenger seat. i need to do something similar - right after all the other hundred and fifty dollar projects....

Re: who's got a sub?
Right now I've bought a Clarion 10" shallow sub (A&B was asking $250, I got it down to $100.00
) My plan was to build a box that I could stuff under the middle bench. That way it is out of the way, and if someone breaks into the van, it's not visible, or easily removed!

Re: who's got a sub?
I had a 12" buffalo chicken sub from subway today
My bazooka bass tube is surprisingly good.. I've had a lot of crazy setups in the past in other cars, dual 15", four 12" 2000watt setups etc. etc. but in this case I was just looking to fill in the low range as I've switched to good mid/highrange speakers all around the van but it sounded like crap without the low range. I've been very impressed with it for $99. After I installed it my buddy took one listen and went and bought one for himself as well.
It is mounted on the "hump", directly behind the drivers seat. Ran the output from the deck under the carpet around the shifter etc. and ran a fused lead directly to my battery.
Now if only the delica had a quieter engine and less road noise so I could hear the music :)

Re: who's got a sub?
haha . . . we're generally very considerate car campers when we're in drive in sites. I was picturing something a little more remote for an action packed DVD with lots of explosions. I have worked as a wilderness guide over the past many years and I used to snub my nose at car campers in general . . . funny how my take has changed since becoming a dad and owning a Delica! Camping with the family in the Van is a true joy. Maybe I'm on a trajectory towards a 40ft 5th wheel with a generator and a rifle. And a pack of smokes.Sucks to be the guy in the campsite beside you!
