How Is This Possible?
This: http://www.lemonfree.com/15626726.html.
1995?
In Richmond, BC?
Gasoline?
Also, I thought starting in 1994 the delicas were L400s.
They also list a 1994, but the picture looks like it is taken on the Japan side, even though it is listed in Richmond. http://www.lemonfree.com/15626725.html

Re: How Is This Possible?
1995 is not legal for sale in Canada right now. Not sure what the deal with that one is..judging by the shape of the body, perhaps it's a parts vehicle, though then the price should be lower.
Alternatively it could be a bullshit ad aimed at collecting peoples email addys.
L400 were introduced in '94, however L300's were continually being made by Mitsubishi until...'97 I think.
I think in some places they're still produced under license.
*edit*
That whole lemonfree site feels kind of...spammy
I wouldn't input my personal info on it.

Re: How Is This Possible?
VERY spammy.
I thought it was a misprint or something, due to the 15 year import regulation. Plus the fact it was gasoline.
But I agree, I wouldn't go through that site to get a delica.

I understand that you can import any year model, but you just can't register it unless it is more than 15yrs old.
Besides, that first one looks like it is still on the Japan-side as well - it still has the Japanese plate on the front...

Re: How Is This Possible?
No phone number, no contact information, no email address or link, there does not appear to actually be any way to even contact anyone except for that box. Rather than a spam harvester, could it be more like a scam than spam? Anyway, I entered my bogus info except for my correct email that gets about 400 spam a day anyway so it won't really matter. If they sand a reply I'll post back. If they offer to sell it to me I'll send them their money, ooops, I think I just sent you $$ to the wrong address in the next town, maybe you can go there and pick it up...? (Did that once, worked great).
Is it a picture of a 1995? Not knowing what a 1995 actually looks like, I tried to find some examples. Here's what I found:

This one they are asking $6,300.00 NZ Dollars, it has 115,000 km:

Re: How Is This Possible?
The L300 was still produced in 1995, but the L400 was in its second year of production at that time. If your Delica looks like a box with the windshield tipped back ever-so-slightly-at-an-angle, it's an L300; if it is 'roundy' and has a hood with an air scoop, it's an L400.
And no, I didn't have a better adjective than 'roundy'...
I'm partial to the look of the L300.

Re: How Is This Possible?
The picture looks suspiciously familiar.... I believe it is a pic of a van that Maximum Overdrive (in Richmond) has or had on their website. I remember seeing it because there is a decal of some kind at the bottom of the door with script-like text on it. It was not a '95, nor was it gasoline. The picture was taken before it left Japan and I know it is in Richmond now if it hasn't been sold.
I have seen a few scams around like this... phoned a guy about a Porsche Boxster that had a suspiciously low price... a number in Victoria... and was put on to an email address which then stated that the vehicle was out of town and would be shipped free of charge to my home address from Europe. He wanted money up front.... RIIIIIIIGHT!!!
Beware!

Re: How Is This Possible?
I concur: it's probably a scam. It could also be a mistake. But two mistakes? From the same person, for the same type of vehicle?
With shipping lead time, real 1994 Delicas aren't that far out. I wonder who will have the first L400 in B.C.?

Re: How Is This Possible?
Laura,
I'm curious as well to see who will have the first L400 but if you plan to be the first one just keep this in mind. When I was in Australia a few months ago I met some cool places where they sold both L300 and L400. They had real nice rigs but they didn't get much of the first generation of L400 (1994-1995 or so) as they had too many issues. They were selling a lot of the 2nd generation L400 which were more reliable. (you can tell the difference by the style of front bushguard, the 1st generation is more like L300 while the 2nd generation has a smaller type, and the hood scoop is different as well).
So I'll be curious to see a L400 on our road next year but don't want to be the one driving it...

First L400 in Canada?
It won't be me. I need to run Gumdrop in to the ground first. And, yes, the first year or two of any new design will have issues. I've noted a number of interesting Europeans that will be eligible for import soon (e.g. Renault Twingo), but you always need to be careful of early ones.
Maybe by the time Gumdrop falls apart I'll be able to get a D:5.

Same here, I'm running Moon Machine until the wheels fall off, at which point I should be able to get into a D:5.marsgal42 wrote:...Maybe by the time Gumdrop falls apart I'll be able to get a D:5....laura

Re: How Is This Possible?
I replied to that ad and have not got a response so far, unless my spam filter grabbed it. Perhaps as many people as possible should flood the ad. I wanted to tell the scammer the money is in the post, at least that way they will wait with baited breath for the money that will never arrive. Better yet if you can get them to go to the Western Union agent to pick it up as Western Union is the favourite scammers remittance method.
