Do you know any Japanese ones? Why is there English decals on the sides of domestic market vehicles like the Chamonix?

I had to watch the vid twice . The dude's hat didnt quite look cowboyish enough. The bird gave it away. Aussie Kookaburra (sp) , and I think his hat is an Akubra. Chances are the commercial was made for the Australian market, and they added in the Japanese subtitles

Yep, that's set in Australia for sure, but we never actually got the Delica as an Aus Delivered version... the japs love giving their products the "ideals" of coming from somewhere else, or the halo of having a western feel - that's why you'll see Brad Pitt and lots of other stars doing promotions for stuff in Japan that we'll never see on TV in the western world. Seems that they think they can do the ads over there without fear of possibly damaging their rep over here...

An interesting example is the Subaru Outback, which was actually called the Lancaster in Japan for the first two generations, now they've started calling it the Outback there too.

Reply to After Oil

The decal on either side says
"Delica Starwagon GLX Turbo
All Wheel Drive Specially Designed
For the All Season Skier"

You can just make it out on the pic I posted on member's rides just above the "Chamonix" decal.
