polishing the visors

i know the product to use is "back to black" at lorco, but we dont have lordco in powell river. i bought this at napa instead:

there is a noticeable improvement, but frankly i still think it could be better.granted, i do a lot of bushwacking and they are pretty scratched up. id say my visibility is slightly compromised. my wife hates the visors. especially because they are usually covered with rain drops.

I took our monsoon visors off.

They obstruct my view a lot when it rains, especially at night. I felt I had a much better field of view without them on.

Mardy has the thin profile one's that are nice. Most modern vehicles have that same type of skinny profile.

One thing I do with my visors is after applying the plastic polish (I now use Auto Glym), is apply a sealer on top. It aides the raindrops to fly away so I get a good view and keep the rain out of my windows. Also After Oil, you can find "Mother's Back To Black" at Cdn Tire, should you so desire.

P.S.: It took me more than one application of Back To Black to originally restore the visors.

my wife will probably make me toss 'em theyre great in the bushwhen the salmon berries are rubbing against but i want the window open for air.

i thought about adding rain-x on top to whisk the water away

I bought both "Back to Black" and "PlastX" and found that PlastX worked quite a bit better on the visors. But Back to Black is still great for all the black plastic areas.

I hear you, there are stores in North Van that I avoid out of principle.... except when they have something that no one else has.... but there are a few stores that I won't go to period ~ depends on what they did. I used to go to North Shore Auto Parts, gave them all of my business. Then one day I came in with my new bride, the Miss Lil' Bitchi and I was querying battery issues with the guy behind the counter but I didn't have a part number at the time so I told him that it was one of those new RHD "Delicas" from Japan ~ "Have you heard of them? (smile, smile)" and he replied "Oh that piece of s&1t"...... The whole place went dead; everyone behind the counter stared piercingly at him and after I had gotten over the initial shock of what he said about my baby, I quietly responded "Ah, I see you cannot help me, then" and I walked out. I will not go back there... maybe if they come to my door with photographic evidence of him being crucified I might reconsider my feelings. Maybe they have dealt with it; maybe those were only hasty words from a guy who had a bad tiff with his wife that day or something and I should get over it ~ but I gotta say, those words really stung me and I have since found other places that suit my purposes, often better. Time to move on.... North Shore Auto Parts and I have broken up.

I really find my visors of great use (like driving with the windows down in the rain and not getting wet) and I got them to be really clear with Back To Black, if you want to try again feel free to PM me and I could pick a bottle up for you in North Van (at Lordco, of course) and post it off to you, it lasts quite a while and has a number of applications. No, I am not on Mother's payroll, just good stuff. I predominantly use Auto Glym now, but I still use the Back To Black.

I have not tried Rain-X on my visors but I do use it on my mirrors.

i guess because its uncool to hate based on race or religion these days, that people are looking for something else to hate on. i notice alot of people are threatened by anything new or different, especially if it makes sense.. like they hate vegetarians, because they feel threatened.

I've considered it... but there's a big warning on the rain-x bottle to keep it away from plastic... so I'm a little leery of trying it...
