hey peeps...

just broke down in Loretto Mexico with initially a cracked steel oil line that runs from the head to the turbo charger. It was leaking very slowly and it made it over a 1000 kms and i know i should have checked it early but .... so i say initially as wew were taking it out it broke off completely. So i am entertaining the mexicaneering ability down here and using a steel sleeve over the broken part and it and soldering it. so in this i am curious to know if the oil pressure in this line is really high and would this suffice for another 500 kms.

anyone have any feedback.

Hello, are you talking about the oil feed line to lube the bearings? or are you talking about the turbo to the intake.. with the air in it?
if you can post the picts that would help to sort it out.

good question. i fairly sure it is the one that goes from the turbo to the intake. here is a photo of it at one end near the back of the head (ignore the magnetic pointer).

well in that pic, i see two things that will connect to the turbo, one is an exhaust and one is the oil feed line, Skinny like a brake line, basicly its the same as a brake hydrolic line and you could simply get a piece of String, roughly measure out how long by tracing the original line, then remove the old line , go to a auto store and buy a brake line with the same ends that is the length of the string that you measured out... get me? however , If I was stuck in the desert and was in a PINCH, and only in a pinch I would simply cut the oil feed line, put some oil or fuel line over the gap, hose or Double hose clamp and drive away, REMEMBERING that the oil pressure is BUILT UP FROM HIGH RPM's, so keep your rpms low. but thats only in a pinch and making sure to stop often to check my oil and for leaks......
