List of extra parts required to install a circulating heater

Post by JMK »

As we just finished doing this job, I thought it may be useful for anyone else planning to install a circulating water heater to have a list of the extra parts that you'll need for doing it on the Delica. (This heater is not the Lower Rad hose heater although it can be used there, it would be overkill as it costs more than a lower rad hose heater). I used a 750 Watt model from Can Tire so I could run it with my Honda generator, it cost about $75.00.

The following part numbers are from Parts Source but they should cross reference from other suppliers:

1 DORMAN 47062 Heater Hose Elbow
1 GPL 3024 S Rad Hose
1 GPL 4105L Heater Hose
4 063 325-006-500 Clamps 5/16 to 7/8

You may be able to get by without the elbow, but it would be a good idea to have it just in case.

The heater works great BTW, starts much better, and blows warm air immediately as soon as you start.

How long do you have to run the block heater before a good start up?
Of all the things I miss, I miss my mind the most.

I run my 750Watt for at least one hour. As it is -22 this morning and I got up at 5 to put some wood on the fire, I flicked the switch then.

I accidently left it on for a day a few weeks ago and the motor was too hot to touch.
