I shall soon join the ranks of happy deli owners (or at least admire my wife's new ride I can pay for). Can you tell me what the differences in the models are? I think I've understood what the self explanatory Crystal roof and hi roof are, so far. But I'm curious of the feature package differences are:
Exceed
Super Exceed
Royal Exceed
Chamonix Edition
What"s the difference between models?

Re: What"s the difference between models?
Captain's chairs in Exceed & Super.
Bench seat in Chamonix.
Dual battery in Chamonix & Super.
Optional in Exceed.
High, low, or Crystal Lite roof on Exceed.
Crystal Lite only on Super (I think).
High or low on Chamonix.
Also some low roofs have a moon roof halfway back.
Heavier paint on Chamonix.
Chrome bars on Super & Chamonix.
Painted on Exceed.
More durable seat fabric and carpet on Chamonix.
I think the Exceed and Super changed to a more durable (but less soft) fabric in late '92.
You'll also see the Jasper edition which is similar to the Chamonix but I believe only came in Blue and typically had a stock roof rack and ladder.
I have no idea what options are on the Royal Exceed but it must be a pretty sweet bus. Does anyone have one?
Also, there were several significant changes to all models between '90 and '94.
The headlight style changed from square to funky sometime in '90.
They added rear shoulder belts and better rear crash protection in late '91.
Added a glow plug light, water cooled turbo, and ditched the hand throttle in late '93.
I think that covers most of it.

Re: What"s the difference between models?
Royal Exceed was only for L400s. The only one I've ever seen had leather upholstery. YMMV.
Like L300s, there were so many options that the trim level was more a badge on the B pillar than an actual statement of how the van was equipped.

Re: What"s the difference between models?
...about 27kg?
Too many differences to fully list here, other than low/high roof and Crystal Lite window set. Beyond that, the sky's the limit. Something standard on a particular model may not be on the one you buy, and something else will be. Plenty of variety, and it seems the Japanese were still able to customize their vehicles from the factory much more than we were able to at that time.
Anyway, spend your money, and then tell us what you got. That's part of the fun.

...and let's not forget the GLX, the venerable base model from which all other spring!
(Single battery, basic carpet, super solid fabric seats, bench seat in the rear. Available in either high or low roof)
