Lake time!

The Delica pulled through the past week at the lake.
Literally. We used it to launch and pull out the boats
the entire time. I spose I should grease it up now.
That and dry the whole thing out. We had two
boats going in and out, a little 16 ft lund aluminum
and a large Starcraft hmm 20 ft (not sure) being put
in and out.
It was cool getting all the looks. My old VW could
never do this :)

no, you just drag in a lot of water getting in and out to hook up etc
some of my backing up the boat into the lake depended on me
and my 10 yr old daughter :)
So I did have to get my feet wet.

Ahhh, grasshopper, my secret is to remove the rear bench and put in the sleeping platform, or lie all the seats down with headrests removed. So now I can reverse with the rear door open up full and SEE my trailer hitch, and reverse to get close to hitch, apply parking brake, then crawl in back to stand on trailer hitch and not get feet wet (hint, bolt a flat plate about a foot square to trailer tongue just aft of hitch to stand on). Right on...!

Had a great time last week in the Shuswap... Delica and Trailer worked out perfect (only launched boat 3 times though).

The third time my 25hp Johnson gave up on me (fortunately not far from the shore... so I rowed back to the launch - much to the amusement of onlookers....)

Does anybody recommend a good and affordable (i.e. inexpensive) outboard motor repair / maintenance place in the Vancouver area?

Can't help with the repair shop but a quick comment.
I can't lay seats down and remove them to go to the lake.
4 kids and a wife make that impossible.
Instead I simply have to drive it close to the dock
jump up on the rear tire, swing around using the rack (carefully)
and tie it up.
It was a good time. I think I unloaded the two boats over 30 times.
We were in an area you need to take them out else things go missing
and / or the smaller boat gets waves coming over the back when beached.
By the end I could maneuver a trailer like no ones business. We even went
in at a strange angle since some moron decided to moore his boat in the launch
like a 'Mooron' ;)

What kind of hitch do you have on your Delica?

Hi Delicaman,

I had my hitch mounted at a place called E&H Hitch in Burnaby (I believe they have a shop in Langley or Surrey as well).

Sorry - I forgot to post images on how it is mounted... will have to do this on the weekend (totally forgot to crawl under and take photos - as per my earlier Hitch / Bumperette-Post).

Outboard repair recommendations anyone?
