New Owner of an 94 Exceed Pajero

Post by kpsxtyone »

Hi,

Im new to the forum and finally decided to get the Pajero. So happy i got it :) very useful space and just right for a new family.
its got a decent 64K km on it and interior was clean. Power is just about right and now going to do and oil change, clean the interior a bit more.

Will be checking Krown soon for the Ontario winter :)

Few things that is not working is the light for the passenger sun shade and the folding mirrors other than that shes fine.

Thanks to all!

Well, welcome to the group! Judging by your comments, you're a little further east than the rest of the herd.

Good to hear of representation in the other provinces. Did you have much of an issue insuring? Import it yourself? Did it require much maintenance to get it road-worthy?

There's a few Delicas in your neck of the woods, not sure about how many Pajeros.

Thanks!

It was already imported and just had to transfer the ownership to me. It was a breeze just like transferring the a normal car. The vin was already in the system. Safety and emission was done by the seller and this is one of my requirement before buying is that he do all the paper work.

I was hesitant at first buying a RHD but it worked out fine. He said that the vehicles he imports are transfered with Ontario ownership. As for insurance i went for a broker. She helped me get the lowest rate possible and i made sure i disclosed everything being a RHD we dont want surprises :)

I would glad to meet a fellow enthusiast if there is a meet :)

Thanks !

I'm looking at getting ~93-94 Pajero.
I would like the most fuel efficient version as possible. I've been told that the 2.5L is better on gas and a tougher engine.
Visited RightDrive in Scarborough last year and test drove a 1993 Exceed. Nice truck.
Where did you purchase yours (private/dealer)? How much did you pay (if you don't mind me asking)?

Thanks and hope your enjoying your truck.

hi, D.
2.5 =4d56 engine is little bit good on gas when its comes to fuel consumption but lack of power compare to 2.8= 4M40 engine. difference is just about 1.5 kms per liter. but this 2.8 has a lot more power than 2.5 runs like a V6gas . which is way far better if you need more power. more when its properly tune.
when it comes to engine it depends on how you tune up the delica.both i think is good engine & reliable.
Cheers;

Hi D,

I did test drove a 2.5 but it was a '91 and probably a tired engine at 180,000km. The power wasnt for me so i opted for the 2.8 with lower KM (67,000)

BTW here is my fuel consumption. I try to keep track on every fill up i did

at this pont i average 11.862.

Purchase Date = Price (c/L) = Litres Purchased = Total Cost = Odometer(km) = Station = L/100km
7/11/2009 = 87.6 = 17.712 = $15.52 = 70,180 Shell
7/9/2009 88.9 69.187 $61.51 70,047 Shell Y 13.3
7/3/2009 88.9 60.462 $53.75 69,446 Shell Y 11.5
6/28/2009 92.9 67.298 $62.52 68,954 Shell Y 12.3
6/26/2009 92.9 52.637 $48.90 68,329 Shell Y 10.8
6/22/2009 88.9 59.494 $52.89 67,899 Shell Y 12.2
6/20/2009 92.9 78.440 $72.87 67,377 Shell Y 11.4

PM me so i can give you the contact number.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,

I had the same problem with the power mirrors on my '93 LWB. I read on another UK-based Pajero forum (http://www.pocuk.com/forums/) that this is fairly common and was a simple fix. Just pop the control cluster out of its socket, twist the assembly one full revolution (either way) and re-insert. It seems to be just a loose or faulty wiring connection. Twisting the assembly tightened things up enough that the power mirror adjustment and fold-in functions work just fine.

Sorry I can't help you on the sun-shade light... mine works fine.

Hope yours works out as easily as mine did!

Cheers!

Kelly
