If the guy said, "sorry, for liability reasons we can't do any vehicle that isn't in our database" then no one should have a problem. If you then offered to sign a waver, and he said, "sorry, but company won't allow that" then okay, you tried, he apologizes but can't. The you would have no reason not to recommend them, or bring your other vehicles.
But the snotty attitude you got with a stupid "reason" deserves all the bad press they can get.
