Rear Door Stuck Locked

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Rear Door Stuck Locked

Post by Sailing Deli »

I went to open the rear door tonight and it wont open. Its probably been 2 months since it last opened and worked fine then. I have the panel off and everything seems to work (all the rods go up and down). Any Ideas? Should I douse it with WD40 and wait? anybody have pics of what the latch looks like?

The rear latch can't be viewed with a camera cuz of the way the hatch is constructed. It's darn hard to get a look in there. i dropped a nut into the latch and couldn't open the rear door. Eventually I pullled the nut out with a magnet but the epoxy used to bond your rear door sections could have fallen into the latch. Probe, prode and poke around as much as you can. Try lowering a magnet onto the latch and see what comes out.

Good luck

I happened to be going to Nanaimo today so I swung by Coombs. Glens mechanic hit it a few times with alot more force than I did and it opened  . He then sprayed it down with some lube and its all good now.

I had that a couple of years ago. I zapped the mechanism with WD40, then a generous helping of Liquid wrench. No worries after that. :-D
