Leary buyer
Just want to say hi to everyone. I'm looking to buy my first Delica right now. I'm thinking of buying one through Terra2imports. Don't really know anything about them and am a little leary of buying off a web site. Does anybody have exprience dealing with them? I'd like to hear about your experiences.

I did have a deposit in with Terra2imports for a week or so, but my need for instant gratification got best of me and I went to check out some dealers in Coombs. I ended putting a deposit down on a rig from CoombsCountryAutos after checking out a few other places. Sure is nice to test drive a vehicle before you buy it. To their credit Terra2Imports was very prompt in returning my deposit, I asked for it back late Saturday night and it was returned on Sunday, not bad.
There is definitely some savings to be had by importing yourself. I know a friend of mine imported one for $5,000, but ended up having to get a lot of work done to it before it was drivable. He still came out ahead cost wise, but I think it was a bit of a hassle getting the work done.
I don't mind paying a bit more to feel like I'm getting a quality vehicle since it will be our only family transport. If it was going to be a 2nd vehicle I might chance it and try importing.

I didn't deal with Terra2 mainly because they won't even talk to you without a deposit... that made me pretty nervous, there are many other places out there that provide the same service at the same prices, but don't require a deposit until they find a vehicle (though usually a deposit is required before they bring it over from japan)
I contacted a LOT o importers when looking for my Delica, and I have to be honest, most of them left a pretty bad taste in my mouth... many of them wouldn't even return my calls...
Personally I used JDM Wholesale in Delta BC, they were great to deal with, and they stand behind what they sell. there were however some hiccups in the process adding delays, but I was never out of pocket for anything.
**** EDIT: removing my recomendation for Luxury imports due to their recent change in attitude slandering the entire import process, flinging baseless accusations at other importers and exporters, and admission of illegal importing ****
I have also heard many good things about CoombsCountryAutos, though I haven't had any dealings with them personally.
