The rear 14 mm bolt holding the second row seat track in place provides an option for a car seat tether anchor. The bolt is hidden by a carpet plug.
There is an L300 thread on this topic where the tether was attached under the seat but the L400 has plastic completely surrounding the base.
Anchor installed.
Tether attached to anchor.
Incidentally, the car seat manual for this particular model warns that if the seat belts originate forward of the seatback/seat bottom crease (which they do on an L400 captains' chair), a locking clip must be used. It might be a good idea to take a close look at your manual to find out what is safest for your kids.

Where did you get the tether anchor from? I need to buy one so that I can install my child's seat in the car.

Percy, Delicat said Canadian Tire for under $5.

If you got your seat new it came with one - maybe check the bag with the instructions?
If the bolt won't slip through the anchor you may have to file a tiny bit off the hole (basically remove the paint).

Hi Nice Tutorial.
Just curious if you are using this achor for a child car seat in the middle captin seat or in the 3rd row bench?
I couldn't deduce that from your photos.
Thanks I've been needing to do this too.

Not that I am trying to speak for Chris but it is the middle Captain's seats. The plugs are along the sliding track.

Re: Car seat tether anchor option for L400
Hi guys,
great info here.
I really wanted to be able to slide the seats around without having to undo the car seats. I bought a couple of the tether anchors and was going to look for somewhere on the base to attach them.
When I popped off the plastic base cover, lo and behold there was a perfect attachment point there already. Sorry no pic of the seat base with the cover off but here is a closeup:
You can see the metal rod/bracket in there
So all I had to do was take my 1" spade drill bit and make a hole in the plastic as shown, centered side to side and as close to the edge as possible. Wider view:

So I didn't need to use the tether anchors on the captain's chairs. Instead I attached them for future use on the rear bench seats under the seatbelt attachment bolt.
Hope this helps someone out.
Dave
