Turbo Rotaion

Post by lrp374 »

I have been going through a check list of potential problems to install an intercooler. The last thing on my list is the turbo. The space between the turbo and intake is very close. I'm not sure how to route the piping. The best post I've seen is by garyo about a year ago. (http://www.delica.ca/forum/some-new-upg ... 47-30.html ). He rotated the turbo to gain space.

I am not sure what is involved and whether the degree of rotation is fixed by bolt circle or can it just be clamped @ any position. I would appreciate comments from anyone who has dealt with this problem.

Thanks

Larry

I've never done it on the deli, but usually you can loosen the bolts on the back of the compressor and impeller housings and rotate the assembly on the center cartridge; you'll be limited in movement to where the cast iron compressor housing starts to hit the wastegate actuator arm and in the other direction the oil and coolant lines. Sometimes there's a bung on the housing to feed the boost signal to the wastegate actuator too, so you may have to get creative. All in all pretty straight forward.
