Happy New Year, everybody!

2010 was an amazing year for me, with my flying and weight loss. I have no resolutions per se for 2011, just stay with what I've been doing and see what happens. My weight loss (115 pounds so far) triggered a surprising response in me; maybe my flight test will too. :-)

In the meantime, a video I shot on the way back from the interior, Central Mountain Air flight 301. Edited with iMovie on my trusty Mac.

Hey, yeah, happy new year everyone :-)
Great to hear of your successes Marsgal - fabulous!
Your iphone was the first one I ever saw at the Rathtrevor meet a few years back. Blew my mind. I still haven't got even a regular cell phone, but am writing this on my trusty MacBook! :-)
No resolutions for me either, but 2011 is shaping up to be full of adventures and changes for me.
Good luck in the year ahead EVERYONE!!!

Happy Day!

Well done Marsgal! 115lbs is an achievement. Cool vid and you landed on runway 08, which reminds me of an Arthur Hailey/John Castle novel... not sure if it was the lamb or the fish :? ...

Happy New Year!

Runway 08 Right is the Runway 08 of book and movie fame.

It's common for Vancouver International to have arrivals on 08L and 08R, but departures only on 08R. It's longer, and less of an issue for noise abatement, since you're climbing out over Richmond farmland rather than rattling windows along the North Arm of the Fraser River.

Even the little planes I fly can be noisy. At Langley, departures to the south (Runway 19) have defined noise abatement procedures to avoid annoying people in Brookswood. Runway heading to Fraser Highway, then course 160 to 1000 feet before proceeding on course.

This fall was the first time anybody called me "skinny" in years, when somebody in a store I frequent greeted me with "Good morning skinny lady!" My doctor's favourite adjective for me at the moment is "svelte". With increasing tummy clearance I've tilted Gumdrop's steering wheel as low as I can, since if it went any lower it would block my view of the gauges.

Word to the wise: whining about having to buy new clothes because you've lost so much weight that nothing fits any more gets about as much sympathy as bitching about jet lag. :-)

...laura, looking forward to her next flight
