Repair shops everywhere else but BC - Why bother?

Post by CREGAN »

So in my recent new delica/owner worries I had the van into an "Import Specialist" shop here in Deadmonton, in which I was quoted some rediculous amount for some repairs (which I don't think are actually needed) and since I got it back I have noticed a clanging in the back end of my van when hitting bumps and turning corners. Feeling up for the challenge I went under the van today (cut on my head to prove it - being bald sucks sometimes) and I found that they took the clamp of the passenger side of the sway bar and did not put it back on. It was hanging up turned by the top bolt with the bottom bolt no where to be found. Every corner or bump would clang it on the bar. Perhaps this was a play on my ignorance hoping that I would come back for another "inexpensive" repair. Idiots. Now I get to go to crappy tire or Napa and try to round one up. I have a feeling I wil be doing a lot of wrenching and learning on this vehicle! At least now I can take pride in knowing that I coasted the loaner vehicle in on fumes. Hope they enjoyed the astronomical gas prices (yes, I am diabolical).

Excellent to hear!
I agree totally.
Explore, do and do more!

There is a lot of good info (and some bad) in the 'archives' here
but doing a search can lead you to the info you seek on many fixes for the delica.
I too have a shiny head and the delica gods always seem to take a blood
offering when I am fixing her. I remember with my VW westie I would
always cut my head on the motor door on the back, a silly bolt holding the
license plate always got me there.. every time...

Have fun!

My Westy is only interested in leaving me offerings - Oil Paintings on my driveway! I should just wear a couple swim caps around when working on any vehicle. Plus it adds to the crazy factor.

Here are the pictures of the clamp that was forgotten to be replaced. A rubber boot is now missing.
