I am looking for this type of fiberglass top

Post by BproofOG »

Hi All,

I am looking for this VW top (the font fiberglass part not the roof top box).

I know nothing about it other than I LOVE the look of this van and I am trying to do a similar thing with mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking

Does that mean you are looking to get one? I have one off an 84 Westfalia - front tub and back pop up section if you are looking for them.

I am looking for one. I only need the front tub though...will you part with them seperately?
will yours fit on a delica? I am very handy at fiberglass work and do not mind if it is not in perfect condition but I do need to know if it will fit.

please PM me with your reply and how much you would like for it.

Thanks!

The VW roof line is very different...I started down this road and then went high top....I have a 1984 roof in Vancouver area...it would be tons of work to make it fit....

I love my high top roof...

I think there is the answer you might be looking for. I definately have and would part with it but my feeling (and I don't know this for sure, but I will measure tomorrow) is that the westy roof is flatter and wider than a delica. I have 2 westy's - a donor and the showpiece. I think the one in your picture is based on the westy cargo area but a one off interpretation of it made for a delica. I will measure it tomorrow morning and get back to you as my Westy is in the garage and my Delica is just in the driveway.

I bought the whole metal roof and all of the Westy...the biggest problem is the VW roof is round so any water that makes it under the roof seal has to go up hill to get in....

You have to cut it in 1/4 and put back together as the VW is longer and wider....

cheers

Thanks for the input.

It looks like I'll be making a custom piece. My idea was to have this front fiberglass section to act like a wind deflector for my roof rack and even considered mounting a few lights up there as well.

I'll keep plugging away.... the winter in the Yukon is LONG and cold so I should have plenty of time to have something produced by spring.

I can get this fibreglass top,. I was in that shop last summer going to all the delica goodies they have, this is a very small delica shop but the owner is very smart in designing things for delica when they are not available in the market. but bringing one will be pricy unless we have a group buy.
