When my PIAA low beams burn out I will be replacing them with PIAA's again. They make a significant difference. I have not changed the high beams yet mostly because like you I really found the low beams bad. I would say that the stock low beam bulbs that came with the E-coded lights are unsafe as they are so dim! Even with the PIAA bulbs I would like more light, but they are a marked improvement.

A little hint Coaxial in changing the low beam bulbs. You don't actually have to remove the enitre headlight assembly to get at the low beams. If you haven't taken out the headlight unit it is a PAIN! Just disconnect the side indicators connectors and remove the headlight unit bolts (to loosen up the unit) and that will give you enough wiggle room to remove low beam bulbs.

Hey guys
Anyone know the difference between an E4 headlight and an E1320 headlight? Is an E4 still acceptable with Transport Canada? I just want to make sure I pass inspection.

Are there any Canadian Tire stores that actually have done an inspection on the delicas? The Coquitlam King Edward store doesn't know anything about the inspection.

Hi, they are both accepted , you need to aim the headlight to correct the beam pattern. canadian tire usually dont like to do this jap grey imports try to find as small shop inspector who has a license, that knows about this jap imports . if need help e-mail & can help

just got 2 large hella retangular fog + 2 large hella rectangular driving lights free used + found all 4 will fit in upper part of bull bar. will just need to weld 2 tabs angled back on the top at rear of pipe + enlarge 2 existing holes under the black cover. lower ones fit just outside of emblem. will post pic when done.

Took a quick look, not sure if I was comparing Apples to Apples but if I was, it looked like these might be a lot cheaper than other brands like Philips?

Found a place will convert Delica to HID 6000k for under $400.00. Let me know if you want more info.

Whew, looks like the site went through some major trauma this afternoon, nice to see it is up again.

So I'm still more than somewhat confused. I saw a Delica today that looked like it still had the original Headlight Pods, but that must not be the case as I assume the reflectors are wrong? Are the entire headlight housings replaced or just the bulbs?

Am I also correct in assuming the following:

- Code E11 European Pattern H4 Lights are what you need if you are doing the bulbs and want the best currently available.

- "H4" = hi-low beam pattern axial, rather than parrallel pattern like North American.

- Bosch SBQ11 (5X7 headlamps) or SBQ7's (round 7" housing) from Canadian Tire are the equivalent of an H4 European Code headlight, but they are hard to find, and may be available at "Parts Source" in Calgary, or Lordco in B.C. in a equivalent Hella bulb. Apparently they were $89.00 in Crappy Tire and $120.00 in Lordco.

- Hella's from Lordco have their own numbering system E.G., 6024 Hella = Bosch SBQ7's

Now, is there a pod that I can place these bulbs in, or do I need to mount a snowplow light housing on top of the bush bar to achieve this?

E13 is the standard european code headlights we get to comply the delicas, the whole pod MUST be replaced (some people have been known to only replace the outer glass, this does nothing to correct the beam pattern and is not only dangerous and illegal, it also gives all imports a bad name and only serves to give the inspectors one more reason to harass us... do NOT change just the glass, change the whole assembly!

the replacement pods look identical to the originals except for the way they aim the light and the stamp on them.

some people still have non-compliant headlights, most of these people are either outside of BC, or had their vehicle inspected before BC became so strict about it, I advise ALL delica owners to make sure they have the correct headights!

You don't place anything in to the pod, The pod is what is coded as E13, which is for the German version of the L300 (the Germans use LHD) it's an entire assembly that you swap out, includes the front glass, internal lenses and reflectors, bulbs, aiming mechanisms, everything. (though the bulbs are known to only last a few weeks, so it's worth swapping those before mounting the new pods (bulbs can be purchased at Canadian tire and are H1 for high beam and H3 for low beam)) mounting is slightly different from the factory pods, some screws don't line up, however they are self-tapping screws and will chew their way in to the plastic for a secure mount.
Another thing I've noted on a couple of them is that none of the connectors on them are soldered, so a few minutes with a soldering iron may solve a lot of problems later...

Sorry, I think I may have given the wrong impression, I'm not a dealer and don't stock parts... The pods are however available through several of the importers that do post on here, they can also be found on ebay.

I see, well thanks for the info, it's much appreciated and that has made life much easier. Now if I can figure the same question out with regards to the HDJ81 Land Cruiser I'll be set.
