So I got to thinking over the past few days about a possible mod on an L300. I did some searching on this site and it doesn't seem to have been discussed (maybe for good reason!). I was hoping to throw the idea out and see if anyone has tried this or if people think it's even a realistic idea.
I was looking at a van the other day on the road (I think a newer Dodge Caravan?), and it had its side rear windows open at the back. I remembered these windows on newer vans are power windows controlled from the front. I haven't had a chance to look at the actual mechanism that does this, but I've been thinking about the possibility of throwing a couple of these in my L300. It would be nice to crack some rear windows in the summer without having to get out, in the back, open windows, get back out, get back in front etc. etc.
I tried looking for a picture of these power mechanisms but can't seem to find one on the web. If this looks like it could be a realistic plan I may attempt it next year when the weather starts to warm up again...
Anyone have any thoughts??

in an L400 you don't have to get out of the van
I'm wondering whether it would be a worthwhile mod as you would need to reinforce the window. worthwhile ? hmmm neat ? yep !

How do you mean reinforced? If I remember correctly, those power mechanisms are pretty strong, and sort of "clamp" shut, as a manual bracket would. Maybe someone else can chime in here though. I'd need to get my hands on an actual mech, or a good picture of one at least!

Re: L300 Power Rear Window Mod....is this possible???
When I had my L300 I was thinking of doing that too.
I might still try it on my L400.
If I'm driving with my dog I like to open those windows when I'm parked and and I always forget to close them before I'm under way again.
It's also nice to use fresh air cooling instead of AC when conditions permit as well. The back windows give little wind noise.
One of these days I'll hit up a junkyard and strip the mechanism and switches out of a NAPOS van and give it a shot.

Anything is possible if you are willing to invest the effort and time ~ stripe the gear out of a Plymouth Voyager, it doesn't have to be powered, it can be levered. All the same I'd be inclined to avoid driving down an FSR with the gill windows open, even my front windows I either have up or down but not in between.

reinforcement would depend on how the mechanical arm mounts to the existing window and would need to be modified to fit to the L300 window.
do it !
