The weather has gone from a -26 to +5 here so everything is a mess and I have been trying to use the headlight washers and nothing is coming out. I can here a click like it is triggering a relay or something when I push the button but nothing comes out and I can't hear the usual sound of the motor hum. I used them on the way home from Vancouver last week and they worked great and came in pretty helpful when following big rigs through the mountain passes. I thought they might be frozen up so i thawed them and blew them out with my compressor but still nothing. Any ideas? If the relay is clicking and nothing is happening could it be the motor is done? I have looked at the shop manual and see that there are 2 washer motors, one for the windscreen which works fine and then another on the front of the bottle that has the level indicator and pump motor. Is there a fuse for the pump?
If it needs replacing, is it a bugger of a job? Thanks
Craig

Are the headlights on? They wont work unless your lights are on.

Re: Headlight Washers
The washer pump motor had probably seized, took mine apart and it was all rusted. Its very common for the seal to fail letting washer fluid into the motor. Very few still work when they come here
anyone know if you can buy a replacement pump??

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. Just sucks that they were working last week and now they aren't. For those of you with this issue on an L400 here is a link to the Aussie site with step by step pictures on how to remove and test the pump: http://www.delicaclub.com/viewtopic.php ... ht+washers
I guess I will add it to the Summer List of things to do! Finding a replacement would be great. My old man has an 86 Dodge (Mitsu) Raider with the exact same washers so I wonder if that pump would be transferable?

Re: Headlight Washers
So I think I have narrowed it down a bit now. My HL washers only work when the reservoir is nearly empty. They worked again for a bit, then I noticed I was out of fluid so I topped up. Then I sprayed them a couple times and watched them slowly stop spraying. Can anyone explain why?

Try the hoses? On our Paj it worked fine at first and got worse. Eventually stopped. Ended up being dirt in the lines. Pulled them all out, replaced them with new one's and worked great since. If you clean/replace the lines expect a massive blast of water. Comical as it shoots out sideways and up on the hood when you're driving.

Re: Headlight Washers
I tried to blow out the lines a while back and it seemed to have no effect. While it was working here the last few days you could hear the pump and see the massive amounts of spray. Now after refilling the reservoir it does nothing. No noise of the pump or anything. I wonder if when it is filled up, the washer fluid seeps into the bottom pump for the HL washers and then when you run down the amount of washer fluid it seals up again? Not sure.
