I would like to change the sliding side door to a hindged door. Has anyone else thought of this? does anyone think it is possible?

1. What is your reason for wanting it hinged?

Superexceeded has gone with an aircraft style door, that's the closest to a hinged door I can think of.

It could be done but you will need to add some material to the pillar on the hinge side....
You could run into problems with a VI as I think the manual says the doors need to work as the manufacture intended. To get around that you might need an engineer sign off on the modification...(this is probably not an issue, but it could become one and something I would check before the mod).
Planning to go to really big tires?

If this is the goal it should be mentioned that the cost of getting a pop-out slider fabricated would be a lot less. If it's looks you're going for I would check with superexceeded to see who if anyone inspected and approved his door.thedjjack wrote:Planning to go to really big tires?

I'd go gull-wing like Super-Exceeded ride.
Might even be able to use the stock doors if the gas struts were skookum enough. Talk to Strut-wise down here in Vancouver; he is *really* good at what he does:
