Delicashop L400 Flares.

Post by psilosin »

Anyone install their L400 flares from Delicashop yet? What do you think?

I just opened my package this morning (from the recent groupbuy) and my first impressions are I just wasted $400... lol.

Lol, that's funny. I got mine and thought the same thing but haven't got them on yet. I think they'll look good once painted up but I agree the price seems high for the quality of the product.

Probably take me another week or 2 to get them on. Appreciate any photos if anyone gets theirs done first.

A bit worried about clearance between sliding door and rear flare.

Kevin.

Anybody know if a hinge extension will be required for sliding door to clear rear flare?

If you do need one, you could look here:

I have flares on my van and the passenger side rear flare has a notch out of it for the door to slide by. It is the only one of the 4 that has this so that must be why. Did all 4 flares come exactly the same?

My set has the notch so yours should too.

For fun I painted up one of the front fenders in everybodys favourite colour (Krylon Fusion Satin Black) and added the rubber piping to test fit the look. It actually looks pretty good so that makes me feel better. [*No I'm not even attempting to get them colour matched to the grey...everything I get done by anyone in Penticton ends in disaster so not even going down that path...and I like black anyway...]

Next piece of the puzzle is to figure out how to mount them. At least for the front flare it looks like you could mount one end where the mudflap was, the other end from underneath. Not seeing any obvious way to attach the flare anywhere other than each end, I would have thought it would be good to have an attachment somewhere in the middle.

Fishtank can you take a picture of how the factory flares mount? I dought I'll get around to painting the rest until spring though so not really a rush... :-)

Krylon!! I can snap some pics for you tomorrow of all the attachment screws on mine. I know some of the screws can line up with the mud-flap holes but I have a few that don't. I am also curious as to wether there is anything holding it in the middle. I have been lookin at it pondering how to mount some flaps on the flares so when you get yours all set up, let me know what you come up with. Interested to see what the black looks like on the van - I love the Krylon Satin Black but I don't know how accepting it is to wax. I am sure Falco would know of a wax to help protect it, or Barbeques since he thinks Krylon is only good for that!

Craig

Edit- I just went out and snapped some pics but the Optimizer website isn't working. I felt the top of the wheel arches and did find that I have one screw up in the top/middle of each arch.

I mounted two sets.

It helps a lot if you have 2 people.

I used #8 stainless metal screws to secure the flares

The rears fit fine but both fronts I had to dremel off a bit close to the 'notch' you are referring to because the flare did not sit completely flush along the whole length of the wheel well.

put on the gasket and have someone hold it in place 'firmly pressed on the body' while you take a pilot drill and drill through 5-6 holes from base to base.

Once done, take the metal ss screws and by hand turn them in. Not too hard so you don't crack the fibreglass.

I used bevelled screws with flat washers to spread the load.

No pics but hope my description helps.

So did anyone bother to take before and after pics of the flare installs? I saw Cregan's picture.

But are these types as well.

Very cool. I really like the wide fender flares as well. Lots of the stuff I am interested in does not have a picture though. Group buy in the works (not organized by me though, so don't ask. I have a tough time tying my shoelaces :-) )?

Your fender flares look great. Nice colour matchup.
