Crankshaft pulley (?)

Post by marciof12385 »

Hi all
I am looking for a Crankshaft pulley for my 1998, L400, V6 Petrol 3.0 Delica
My vin is: PD6W-0400707. - i have not yet removed it but i can see going skew when running.
I am waiting for some info from Japan, i have a few friend in Canada/Ontario so wanted to give it a try might be easier/cheaper to get it from Canada.

If you're having troubles with the crankshaft on the 3.0 I would be very careful. Those engines had a recall because the crankshaft pulley bolt was prone to breaking. I had this happen on my Mighty Max which had the same engine and if it breaks and damages the crankshaft you will need to replace the engine. Hopefully you can find a part soon and replace the pulley bolt while you're at it. The cheapest I saw were from the USA because they have that engine in many vehicles there. Good luck!

There are about 30 models of vehicle with that engine in th USA alone (I believe the only montero with that particular one is the sport) but that doesn't mean all the parts are interchangeable. For example, the Mighty Max 3.0 and the Montero 3.0 don't actually have the same size crankshaft pulley bolt so I would do some research to see if the crankshaft pulley is the same.

nxski,
there is only 2 type of engine for montero 1994-1996 i believe as when i call them they say only 2 type of engine.
3.0 and 3.5 liter gas for montero, sport and regular montero.
the best way i guess is to give them the engine model and compare to them if same engine model.
as when i got the delica L400 with gas engine.
did get some parts from 1994 and some parts from 1996 model gas montero engine.
even my L400 is 1996 L400 gas PD6W model.
hope this help the person who needs help.
mighty max engine diff . than montero.
its a pick up.
sometime they all just mix it up to make us confuse but when you got the proper number they interchange it.
as they are both mitsubishi parts.
cheers;

It's the same, my vehicle was always services as it was a Montero. There are a few different parts but it's the same engine. Search the engine On google and you'll find a wiki page with a list of the massive amount of American vehicles that use this engine.

I am goint to have it removed this week so can confirm if it is the pulley or the bolt (or both).
Any specific info i should give the mechanic when prepraring to remove it?
Some say they might need to remove the radiator, etc
