I was at a loss for how to fit one more gauge in there (I am using a RHD pillar pod, it will contain 5 readouts) and I stumbled across your suggestion.
It is brilliant! It is exactly what I will be doing. Lets me monitor coolant or AT at the flick of a switch! Now maybe to figure out something with an indicator to show which is which: AT or Water.

Double pole, double throw switch; one pole to switch the gauge, the other pole to illuminate two different coloured LEDs to let you know which "side" is on.

blue for water and red for AT fluid or brown if you screw up the tranny!

I have a spare Auto Meter Boost gauge that I need to get rid of. Its the larger size at 2" 5/8ths. New around $75.. its still new in box for $50.

You can easily make it yourself. I used a piece of 1/4" plate steel I had laying around for the exhaust manifold side. I traced out a paper template of the shape and bolt hole pattern and glued it to the steel as a drill template. I was later able to drill and tap a center hole to mount the compression fitting for the thermocouple itself.
I did the same thing for the intake manifold to plank off the cold side of the EGR valve using a piece of 1/4" aluminum plate..

Wish I had the tools to do that...i've been trying to find a tapped blanking plate as well.

I spent $100 and had a guy seal weld a 1/4" piece of aluminium onto where the EGR goes and he also fabricated a losange shape steel plate to fit over the exhaust manifold end of the EGR. One thing you MUST consider if you are doing anything like this is "galvanic reaction". Steel plate against aluminium does not work, the aluminium will start to erode because of the galvanic reaction.
There are a couple of members that have manufactured EGR blanking kits, I'd suggest going to either of the two site search engines and search "EGR blanking kits" and see what you turn up. I also know that CVI installs these kits, maybe give them a call?

I contacted CVI and Butch said they are out of the kits.
I also contacted the UK sellers for more information about drilling and tapping the hole for the EGT probe
I'll post back with details once I know more
