It's implicit. Unless a license agreement states the data is yours, it belongs to the site.
That is what I said in my previous post, if it wasn't clear.
I think that it is the other way around actually :)

These are the first couple examples I came across in my search for a definitive answer.

I'm ok with you having your opinion and I having a different one.

in my opinion (and that is all it is) if you post up information to help others and then take it back down, then you are telling others that they are not worthy of the information you posted.

i, personally, would find it offensive. i also feel that if i post up information then it becomes the property of what ever site i posted it on .

but whatever, it is up to the poster to decided.

I agree in that it would be spiteful to remove info you have posted as one would be taking info away from not only those that you have a difference, with but also your supporters.

HAHAH
What's funny is you are all arguing like Green1 would be
about what is actually the legality of the issue.

Too funny.

Moderator, lock this thread for posterity

It doesn't really matter if you are right or wrong, because you are trumped by:
"The Universe is mine—but because I cannot consume it all at once, the surplus has been distributed unequally at random to the rest of you." (poet Christian Bok)

In other words, we are all fighting over scraps.

posting on an Internet forum is no different than opening your mouth to speak on a busy street corner.

Whoever reads your post can use it as they see fit just like they can by listening to you in a public place.

Green1 , this one's for you !

I liked Green's arguments. I don't recall getting embroiled in one with him, though we have disagreed here and there. I have been informed by his knowledge and entertained by his tenacity. Never once did I take offense by what he said and am surprised he seems to have gotten under the skin of a few around here - If the thread becomes a boring bickering match I just stop reading it - People accusing Green of taking things personally too much seem to have taken his posts personally themselves... Just saying... He participates regularly and answers new people's questions. We're lucky to have him; I hope he comes back.

I just want a "I do not care button to vote"

the whole or hole thing is just to black and white and I live in a gray or grey world (I am not sure which or witch).

About 2 years ago we started investigating getting a Delica. This was kinda defensive on my part since my SO was pretty set on getting a VW van. I drew a line in the sand on that but, after seeing some Delicas on the road, we started looking. One of the first things we did was find this forum and started scouring it. Like most enthusiast forums, this one is chock a block full of information and ideas. Not all of it good or credible, but a great deal of it is. The main benefit was the access to the pool of knowledge and data provided by ALL the members. What is great about this is that the knowledge is "real world" for lack of a better term. After several months of investigating, we settled on, what has turned out to be, a great '93 Exceed. It has performed flawlessly for 2 years and never ceases to make us smile whenever we drive it.

This is no accident. Thanks to the people on this forum (including Green1) we were able to choose wisely. We continue to utilize the forum to "keep up" with what the latest is on legal issues/maintenance/modifications, etc. I don't contribute much simply because I am not that knowledgable yet but am getting better. Hopefully I will be able to contribute more in the future and payback the people who helped us and maybe help newcomers.

I guess my point is that any and all information is valuable. Whether we utilize it or not is our choice. It would be a shame to lose any of the contribution from anyone. JDM's are such a relatively small community, that forum knowledge is critical. At the same time, if it no longer is enjoyable, it will be our choice to leave or stay.

If Green1 is no longer enjoying the forum then he should leave but I, for one, will miss his contributions and hope he sees fit to return. Non of us are perfect but hopefully we can see past the imperfections of others and just get on with it. Life is too short to let, what appear to be, petty conflicts influence our lives.

Sorry for the long post, but just felt I needed to vent a bit.

Rod

There is one point Green1 nor anyone else (his arch nemesis combatants) have made.

Green1 has never argued with himself.

The back and forth and back and forth posts that annoyed many were just as much the 'other' peoples fault as Green1's.

It takes two to tango.

You guys (you know who you are) who kept pushing and bickering and arguing are no different than Green1 as far as I'm concerned.

Knowing how Green1 likes to make a point, pushing obviously was not the proper way to converse.

This means that there are more 'Green1' type members on this forum.

Me being one of them. I've had my share of online sparring here.

Don't be so quick to point fingers at Green1 when the people arguing back and forth with him are doing the same.

My 25 cents and a penny.

Amen to this! I have had to work really hard to stay out of these kind of arguments. I am unfortunately pre-disposed to them because I am beyond ADHD on the spectrum of Autism, and close to Aspergers. It is possible that Green1 is the same as me, and I suspect as much from the style of his posts. One of the bad side effects for me, is that I tend to take any minor amount of criticism personally, even when it is in my own best interest, I then also cling to my side of an argument even when it is a lost cause. It feels to me like Green1 has done the same, when it is not really warranted. (I am not adding fault here, just describing how my condition makes me react to these types of arguments).

So, you are dead on jfarsang, there were other people on the other side of the argument, every argument is bi-directional.

It is too bad really, a huge reason I have the exact Delica I do is in a large part to Green1's posts. He also removed a post about modifying the rear seats in a way that I was going to copy when I got back home, and I was really looking forward to following the description on his post.

Green1, we will miss you if you stay away, yes, even if we argue with you from time to time.
