what i mean is when your in big highway like coke highway, not a steep small road.
as you make you transmission change it from od to 3rd gear, you let the transmission shift it automatically
but if your on a very steep hill on a small highway not like coke highway, you can used overdrive switch on it but just
take it easy on the pedal.
on a very steep hill with slow traffic then 3rd gear is ok.
if your running 3rd gear on 80kms plus on straight hill your rpm will be high
remember the overdrive switch work on L400 after 65 kms.not after 80kms
try to figure it out when your running 80kms on 3rd gear.
this is my thought as i also drive L400 all the time.

With O/D off (in 3rd) at 100 kmh you are going to be revving the snot out of the engine. Isn't peak torque on a deli diesel around 2200 rpm? When climbing the coqui with OD on I'm well above that. So I don't think it would be necessary to turn off OD at hwy speeds.

One of two things.

On the back of the intake manifold is a spring loaded pressure release valve that will pop open if you have too much boost. Sounds like a loud 'PpppssssssssT!" and can force some air though the vents.

Or your air con / belts catches and pushes some extra air out

On this same topic , is this a common occurance jfarsang, . Reason I ask is I have experianced this same "Ppppppsssssssssst" sound and wondered what that was all about . It goes away as soon as you back off the accelerator , even a bit . Is this a concern/problem ,or just normal?

Further to this issue with the "Ppppppsssssssssst" sound. I still seem to be getting this noise even under modest acceleration. As soon as I back off a tad the noise ends. Is that preasure relief valve the culpret ? Is it something to be concerned with. Is there a fix noted somewhere on the forum. Has anyone had this same issue?

It reminds me turbo actuator seems to be not working properly.
