Re: L400 Brake Parts
Raybestos rotors for quality and right now I am using 1995 Montero 3.5L SR Model Calipers on our L400 Chamonix. Both 3.0L sport and 3.5L SR models work. The slight difference is a larger surface where the metal brake line retaining bolt threads into but does not affect the position.
When doing calipers and/or pads, one thing to note is that some aftermarket pads come with incorrectly sized retaining clips that make a 'tic ... tic ...' sound while driving as the pad tabs knock against the caliper retaining bracket while in motion. Match them up with your old ones to be sure the fit is tight and not loose.

Have you got a matching part number for L400 front rotors?jfarsang wrote:Raybestos rotors

Do the brake hoses happen to work off the Montero Sport?

Re: L400 Brake Parts
Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I was build on this one.
So far this seems like a "front" brake thread, but I would like to add a question about REAR L400 parts.
I know that the rear rotor/disc is same as a montero (as noted elsewhere). When I go to Rockauto, there are about 15 different suppliers of rotors. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Brands I see are:
- Raybestors (I plan on using Raybestos pads)
- Centric
- Wagner
- National
- BECK/ARNLEY
Thanks very much

Yikes!
Partsource had Wagner Ceramics in stock for under $50.00 and they validated the cross reference with that Mitsu part number above.

Re: L400 Brake Parts
big bird buy them through a large utility, gas ,electric or telephone company etc. it's always cheaper---- you don't have to work for that company. Over the counter price is always higher.

Re: L400 Brake Parts
I just picked up the Napa's today. They have 3 different quality of ceramic pads ranging from $66, $82, and $130. I bought the $82's. The rears were $70 something. I got 2 sets for the front and two sets for the rear and it cost me a little over $150. I have to check my bill but I think they made a mistake when I paid, but I am going to let them figure that out
. Gonna throw them on in the next week or two. Hopefully they last longer than the last ones. My fronts seem to start squeaking after about 6-8 months. I have never replaced the backs so that should be fun. I am going to grease the crap out of the sliders too as I think they are what is causing me most of the problems with their continual seizing.

Edit: Here are the numbers
Rear SS-7477 $78.19 for a box with 4 pads
Front SS-7412 $80.29 for a box with 4 pads
$166.40 Total plus GST

Re: L400 Brake Parts
Just adding to some of the part #'s on this page.
I did my rear brakes today. I tried to have Lordco cross reference the OEM part number for my 97 L400 Series1. But they didn't have a cross reference for it (Mitsu OEM # MN102623).
So she looked up rear pads and rotors for a 95 Montero SR. There was only one listing for pads and rotors - so that was easy. There were several options of calipers to choose from which appeared to be model dependent. I didn't need calipers so it didn't matter today.
The pads don't come with the caliper slides but mine cleaned up nicely with a small soft wire brush.
Lordco at 88/Scott Rd in Delta have been very good to deal with re parts. They don't have any listings but have been more than willing to look up Montero parts when I mention that some are the same. The guys and girls there have lots of patience and are very knowledgeable. Good people to deal with.
Here is I purchased:
Rotors - Beck/Arnley Part # 083-2455 $133.99 each
Rear Pads - Beck/Arnley Part # 089-1464 $ 83.78 for the set
Hope this can be of some help to someone.

Rockauto seems to be about half what Napa charges.
