I've been meaning to stop at a weigh station.. but always seem to notice them when I'm halfway past!

I searched around online and couldn't find any specs on width, length or even a part number! I have found out that many delica owners replace their rear coils with HD Land Rover Defender Coils. Apparently they're the exact same and for cheap! That being said, I think one could use Land Rover Defender Air Bags as well.. although I wasn't going to take that risk while situated in Guatemala!

Ended up with the Firestone airbags ordered in from Australia and paid way too much. No shops in the US would ship into Guatemala so what else was I to do!

Anyhow, I've arrived into South America now and the point is that I finally have a weight! The rig fully loaded down with fuel, water and food plus me, my girl and new pup we're sitting at 2800KG. The airbags work fine at 25PSI but are ideal at 30PSI (Max recommended pressure).

It handles great, except for up hills!!

I'm over 14,000kms into a cross Canada road trip. The van's been converted to a sleeper (storage underneath the bed)...we have a cargo box on top, a swingaway bike rack (which is relatively heavy) with 2 bikes on it on trailer hitch, and an ARB awning...no idea how heavy it is but as you can see in the pic it sags quite a lot.

What are the pros/cons to air bags vs stiffer suspension? With air bags, would they be deflated when the van is empty and inflated when full? How do they inflate/deflate (I'm guessing a switch connected to a compressor or something?)?
