or actually if anyone knows the resistance of the glow plugs i can work out the amperage.

GLow Plug Relay
The Engine Electrical workshop manual ( http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7333 ) says the glow plugs should be 0.6 to 1.0 ohms at 20C; so theoretically 80A peak (though voltage drop and increasing resistance as the plugs heat up means you'll probably never actually see 80A).
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.
