Mystery solved, brand new glow plugs are/were fried. Now to figure out if they were faulty out the start, or if somehow they got cooked. Feels good to have figured it out, and reminds me just because something is brand new, its worth double checking every single thing from the start.

It's always nice to find out it's something easily fixed
I'll be interested to see what you find, as it would be unusual for all four plugs to burn out at the same time, but from your symptoms that's what it sounds like.
I'm guessing these are 6V glow plugs, I wonder if they've simply burnt out from being powered by 12V for too long. Giving them 12V makes them heat up really quickly, but doing it safely is tricky (which is why the ECU is so complicated).
Mine are still ECU controlled, and it rarely gives them more than 4 seconds of full power (ambient temperatures around here are 10C-28C). Parked overnight on the mountain (down to -5C) it'll run them for about 7 seconds before switching to 6V.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Yes, the were brand new Beck/Arnley 6v plugs.
Wonder if I should just put some 12v plugs in there and not have to worry about it. With the manual relay I never juiced them longer than seven seconds, any idea what your lower Voltage relays powers the plugs at? I get 12V and around 8V to the plugs from each relay respectively. Weird thing is they fried after the first start up. I'm running out of time to keep tinkering with things here so might just disconnect both realys from the ecu entirely and cautiously use my On-Off-On momentary manual switch to control the plugs exclusively.

At this stage I'd just install 12V plugs and power them manually. The ECU is nice, but troubleshooting can take a while when it plays up.

Tagging on, this is a good discussion answering almost everything I needed to know, except for a few things:
Having read through this I am having a similar problem, and think it is that the glow plugs were fried (I have a manual rocker switch, in the future I will switch it to something that returns to "off" on its own to avoid doing it again).
The other option is to go back to the ECU system, but I think one or both of my sensors might be bad.
That said, the main thing I am wondering is where the two sensors can be found in Part Souq. I've looked through what seems like every diagram to find the two sensors that have the single blade for a wire to connect...any ideas?

For now I ordered NGK 6V plugs from rockauto.com, less that 100$ cad for the set (with express shipping). I'm saying good bye to Lordco & Napa forever, these guys have better parts at a fraction of the price. I'm going to completely disconnect the ecu, and power the plugs exclusively via my manual on/off/on momentary switch to the relays. Being very cautious not to use 12v for ever more than a couple of seconds. Does anyone have a part number for a 12v glow plug replacement for the future? Would be nice to have worry a worry free glow systems next time.

Murdermittien, unfortunately I don't have an answer for you, but I'm quite content not messing with any of that stuff and just using the switch myself. If Coombs doe re-condtitioned ecu's for 150$ my manual relay cost 20$ and about two hours install

Part # Mitsubishi MD197511 is the 12v plug used in 1993-97 L300's with the 12v glow system. Part # MD344469 is the 12v for 1997-99 L300's. The current Mitsubishi part number appears to be #MR577131...

Funny you mention it, just moved to the island and looked up Daniel after reading his posts, got my ecu rebuilt last week and now I'm back in action myself. Still a little smoky though..maybe time to give the injectors some love
