Re: Manual transmission gearing??
I talked to a guy in Germany who changed the gearing on his l300 5spd. As far as I remember he used parts from a Pajero, but don't quote me on that.

wish I did, or even if I could confirm Mystery Machine's speculation, but sadly I *still* haven't had the time to dedicate to this. Life has had many higher priorities over the past two years... I guess that's a comment on how much I *actually* need this mod...

I remember reading something here about taking the front and rear differentials from an early 90's Pajero and installing them on a Delica. Can't for the life of me find the post though...

You can swap the gears out of a gen 1 and 2 Montero for the exception of the V6's as they are larger.
For the rear, you can swap out the 1st gen montero's and 4cyl models
Diff gears on the 5spd's are either 5.29 or 4.875
If you have 5.29's, you can simply swap 4.875 gears from any L300 auto.
Montero's usually have 4.26 gears which will be better suited for L300 5 SPF highway drivibg

Are you saying that the top gear from an auto will just swap out with 5th gear from a standard? Provided your van is geared at 5.29? How can you tell what your diff gears are?
What are the options if your 5spd is geared 4.875?

Re: Manual transmission gearing??
I'm only referring to the front and rear differential gear sets.
