Hi, David,
well as i told you before it make difference in the highway when your pulling around 70 to 110 kms. gain in response on engine & feel no stick on flow of the air towards the engine that gain more horsepower, as i do have same 21/2 pipe stainless from the exhaust monifold. as this pip & muffler came off origianlly from japan when i have the delica.
well you got the right choice.
enjoy your delica,
cheers;

I just got mine done at the same place, Quiet Muffler on Kingsway.

Mine came out to $369 tax in.

$70 MORE than David's for exactly the same thing.

He said David's was an 'experiment' and that they charged less labour on his then what it should have been.

I needed it done (muffler was coming apart) otherwise I would have shopped around.

Anyways, the welds are 'o-kay'. Sloppy in my opinion.

I'm going to install a pyro probe up in there and will clean up the weld from the downpipe and eliminate the 2 - 2.5" diameter bottleneck at the flange when I have some more time.

Jesse

Funny how they never told me mine was experimental... I'm curious how much they'll charge me when I go for my 2nd van!

If I had been in your shoes Jesse I would have been tempted to just walk away so they don't get away with charging more. But now you have a nice exhaust and life is good, just poorer!

Enjoy!
David

Yeah. I needed it done as driving around with a Delica sounding like a tank would have attracted the fuzz.

Time and place was convenient so I bit the bullet.

With that said though, I would definitely recommend to take your van to another shop or two to compare.

I've seen much better pipe welding than this at common muffler shops.

It's quieter and smoother on acceleration which is what I was shooting for.

Highway will be nice.

:-D

I drove mine briefly with no muffler when I was hacking together my side-exit exhaust from my Quiet Muffler & Brake installed full-length system.

Anyone have any reccomendations on shops to get a side-exit 2.5" exhaust fabricated for my L300 in Vancouver for a fair price? If price is right I would just take my existing pipe exiting the manifold and get them to weld on a 2.5" adaption like in jfarsang's pictures on the previous page of this thread.

Looking for better MPG, and a bit more power for those hills up to Whistler and North shore mountains.

Most posters here mention increased power and/or revs drop compared to equivilant highwayspeed as with stock muffler. Probably better MPG too as long as you don't slam the pedal to the floor.

I hear quiet muffler on Kingsway is a good place to go.

thanks in advance.

Andre

Hi Dr. Airtime,

Here is my experience with Mufflertech: http://www.delica.ca/forum/2-5-mandrel- ... 12245.html

The difference here is mandrel bending which doesn't pinch the pipe in the corners, waterjet cutting a new flange, and 2.5" stainless from the flange on back (instead of re-using a section of the old pipe and re-using the old flange). About 2/3rd's of the way down the thread, RichD says he paid about $600 for a side shooter. Not the cheapest in town, but their quality is really good.

I go to Hoegler's muffler in Richmond. If you're offroading, ss is equally likely to get torn apart by rocks. I paid $125 for a 2.5 side exhaust with glasspack muffler and $70 for a straight pipe from them after my glasspack rattled apart.

I did a side exit 2.5 last august. Cost me $90 bucks, strait pipe, sounds like a scaled down Cummins. The turbo sings beautifully. Most noticeable improvement is highway hill climbs, it doesn't need to kick down a gear even when fully loaded.

How much louder than stock do you think it is? 2x, 3x?? I know it's not easy to try and explain sound but I'm just wondering if the wife would approve of a straight side pipe :-D

LOL. The wife doesn't like it in summer(fires out the driver side) but I would say it's about 3 times louder under minimal throttle...and about 6x louder when you put the foot into it. Nice sound though. The idle is where the turbo sings nicely.
I'm in the Langley area, if you wanna have a listen.

Brad.

Mine had straight side pipe when I got it way to loud for me...

Personally it was too loud....best mod I did was putting a muffler back in there (my van is just as slow with or without a muffler)

loud should only be big blocks on headers :)
