thanks every body for the votes of support.

i guess my curses were legit becuase the mods havent edited them out ;)

believe me, my family are all rude new yorkers and i dont usually take shit from people like that, esp. when theyre getting paid by me for goods or services. i guess i just dont have the energy right now because im just busy as hell. i have already taken too much time out to get my van to comply. i did the DRLs myself and it took a loong time LOL. id rather focus my energy on the positive . i think next week ill write a letter and include the government info from the inspections website and send a copy to the local CT and one up the rails somewhere.

on the way to the ferry yesterday to bring my van over to ccauto i got a stone in the windsheild.

craaack! :o

good one, new windsheild

thanks glen too for saying the things to confirm that i got a good one! im not discouraged because of $#&*$ thats for sure.

somebody said yesterday "hey theres after oil and why is he in my van?"

my WVO kit is coming at the end of the month and ill start to make my money back by driving for free

the windshield is definitely toast but thankfully glen threw one on for a verrry good price.
i just talked to glen and hes got the van over at inspections right now. he only had to replace the hoses and cylinders to get it through inspection! the drums are totally fine!

While your outlook on the situation is admirable, these idiots obviously don't have the same respect for other people. I'm all for not messing with peoples work and money, and have been in a rather sticky situation in regards to that, and you;re right it feels good to be the better person, but honestly in this case, i'd rather see if they're any good at flipping burgers than have someone else have to deal with that.

youre absolutely right. and considering that $#&*$ jeff at CT said it was gonna fail before he even saw it, i gotta do something... im gonna try to chill a bit this wknd (yeah right) including an all night soundsystem party on the beach over on texada. next week ill come up with some creative rants for the $#&*$ at CT (sorry, i really wanted to get it in one more time before the thread closes

WOuld there be any way that this Forum and post could be brought to the attention of Jeff and his Canadian Tire counterparts? I'm thinking the best way would be to print the URL for this thread on slips of paper or business card stock and next time we go to Canadian Tire hand them out to the staff that work in the Auto dept.

We shouldn't just rock the boat publicly, we should try and sink the PR CT ship! This is such BS - but could be blamed on me; I told them to take care of you.

Good care by CCAuto for certain - that deal on the window - want to tell every newbie here that asks the question 'what about parts'.

yesterday nigil from ccauto met me at the comox ferry with my van. i went and transfered and insured it with candace at the coast insurace place behind pizza hut. i hit the highway for victoria, put a live Phish show in the deck and ... WOO HOO!!
when i hit 120km it finally told me its name: The Space Antelope!
(after trey anastasios first band)

very big thanks to glen, nigil and all the crew at CCauto for going above and beyond by picking up the space antelope at comox and bringing it back there. for selling me a windsheild for $100, and for holding its hooves through the inspection.

the space antelope handles great, and gets me to the ferry when im running late. (im a poet and didnt even know it!) it goes 140km no problem! i dont intend to drive it that fast very much, but i left parksville for vic at 1:30 and had to make it back to the ferry at comox for 7:00

when i arrived home there was an automated message on my answering machine from the owner of CT phoning to find out how my experience was :o
well since you asked....

That's great that it all worked out, and three cheers for CC Auto. Welcome, Space Antelope, to the world of road worthy delicas.

Quite an ironic twit about that message.

Sorry to hear of your troubles with Crappy Tire. So I see they have the same level of customer service nationwide. People here(Newfoundland) avoid them like the plague.

Glad you got your Delica on the road after all that.

Back to your windshield. Are these sort of things(all van glass in general) hard to acquire in Canada?

We've all got to go through the CT experience once. I did many years ago when I took my pontiac in to have the shocks checked out. He totally ripped me off on some rear leaky brake lines. But the amazing part of the experience was when I asked him about the difference between the one set of heavy duty shocks and the more expensive heavy duty shocks. After humming and ha-ing he stuttered out, "they're...heavier dutier" HEAVIER DUTIER! WTF!?! I love sales people who dont know their own product.

On another inspection note, My Delica passed its inspection, with Japanese lights intact! (I bought it after its inspection) I called the guy who did the inspection and he tries to tell me that as long as the lights are aimed to the right, instead of the left, they pass. I said, everything I've read and heard says they have to be either DOT or Enumber. He stands by his inspection pass. So now I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to have to pay another $300 to have new lights installed. Anyone have any ideas?
