Green1 was saying his turbo is not working... and I'm wondering how does one test this???

If I want to know if the turbo in my van is working, how do I do it?

Thx,

Fabio :M
The person standing on the side of the hill while you drive up does work. Removing the muffler in any way really allows you to hear the turbo wind up.

Or if you want you could remove the cover located under the drivers seat, then remove the intake hose from the turbo allowing closer inspection. I had a mechanic do so, but he said it's an easy visual inspection; that hopefully doesn't look like this:

Note that's not my turbo but see link for more info.

Welcome to Delica Canada, Turbo. The stock boost is at about nine PSI. Mine is actually set at a little less than nine, something like eight & 9/10ths.

Falco.

Isn't it 12 psi stock and the pop-valve blows at 15 psi? I think so...

12-13psi should be safe for you. You can also visit the UK forum as they often use BAR instead of psi. And you know how to adjust your wastegate to increase\decrease the boost?

Good luck!

So... how the heck does one actually install a boost gauge and a pyro? Maybe I just need to buy the parts, look at the whole 'lot and simply giv'r. But if there is any documentation that other members have used/recommend, I would love to get my paws on it. :M

There have been quite a few threads on pyros and boost gauges. Do a search for "pyro" or "pyrometer" or "boost gauge". Searching for "EGT" won't work, because the search engine wont work on search terms shorter than 4 characters.

These engines can handle quite a bit of boost, but, the turbo itself is soo small that it gets inefficient beyond 15psi. Which is why I assume they put that pesky pop valve on the manifold (mine opened at 16psi). If you do get your turbo rebuilt, I suggest getting a 13g compressor wheel put in, I put in a 15g in mine. With the 13g there isn't much differance in lag, I do feel a slight amount with mine though. This will allow you to run more boost in an efficient manner. I've been running over 25psi for two years with no ill effect, but, I have done many other things to my truck to ensure its reliability.
