Re: What stereo did you have installed?
Does anyone have a Karioke unit that actually works? I'm curious how they work and if my kids would be able to use it for their enjoyment. I'm sure my industriel ear protection would be adequate protection :)

Re: What stereo did you have installed?
they only work with the factory stereo... most people replace the factory stereo so that they can get the north-american AM and FM bands properly (and for better sound quality)
The karaoke system is neat though, has inputs for several microphones, aux, and a TV, a couple of headphone jacks, and the ability for different people to listen to different sources... too bad it was built for Japan and not Canada...

Re: What stereo did you have installed?
I had the stock stereo with the slave unit in the back, I plugged my ipod into it with a long cable under the seat and carpets to the back, worked great till the head unit started flipping on and off and now is off unless you hit it and it only makes a breif noise like plugging in a mic and then goes off again (well the radios readout lcd screen stays on) I'm pretty sure that it is just a loose wire or connection from or too the amp. I might open it up and see if I can fix it but not sure how well that will work out. If anyone is pulling a working audio stage head unit I will gladdly take it off your hands :)

Re: What stereo did you have installed?
mine "worked" when I removed it... but the cassette deck was toast, and the audio quality sucked (more than just the speakers)

Regarding the stock stereo.
I got one from Mardy a few weeks back, because I was also curious about the 'Sound Stage'
A couple days back a crackhead broke into the underground in my building and took the faceplate from my new stareo, so I finally got pushed into plugging in the stock (because the van was without sound..)
It works great, I haven't plugged in any microphones yet, but I'm sure they work.
What I did, to get around the lack of radio and all that, it plugging in my MP3 player into one of the inputs.
I can listen to my music and I can listen to the radio THROUGH the tuner in MP3 player.
Problem solved :)
p.s. the crackhead was apprehended by one of the neighbors, so all of the stolen stuff will be recovered, it's just "in limbo" at some RCMP storage at the moment.
apparently the thief "fell" a few times while being stopped by my neighbor, broke his nose etc..Clumsy thief.
