Mine is a 93 Exceed and I figure I have a 55L tank. @ 1/4 tank left today I topped it with 35L. Whatever my tank holds I get about 370km - 400km on a tank. I've never ran it dry and then filled it right up, so my calculations are based on the gauge saying ie.: half tank, I put in 23L, x2 I have a 50(ish)L tank. Well, thats my useless tidbit.
In closing, I don't much pay much attention to fuel consumption, but this van is fun as hell in the snow. :)

We have a '92 Chamonix 5-speed (high roof). So far as I can tell, it's a single 55-litre tank .

Just checked through the last 10 fill-ups... we seem to be averaging about 12.5 l/100 km (roughly 22.6 mpg) combined city & highway. Not stellar. The best leg of our recent trip was 25 mpg, straight highway, but that was driving for a couple of hundred kms under 90 kph (usually drive around 110).

Kind of hoping the 235/75R15 tires are waaay oversize, but I don't have the patience to attempt the math. Anyway, it is what it is.

That's about right for the 5spd.

11/12 L / 100 KM combined

400 km with a 50L fill

:? 30 MPG ?

Sure you calculated that right ?

An addendum to a previous post I made on this thread:
Alignment can effect your mileage. If your wheels are out of alignment then your engine works harder, burning more fuel.

Auto trannies come with dual tanks for 75L, manual with single for 55L. Really, really easy to check: bend down on passenger side, look underneath at the sliding door. A dual tank setup is really really obvious.

There is a thread on here somewhere when a forum member went off the road and the Deli ended up on its side. Driver took photos showing underside. I searched but couldn't find it. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Erebus,

Monkeyman here, I'm the one who ditched.

See "Rollover in Oregon" in the member photo's and trip section for a good look at the underside of my van.

monkeyman! Good to see you posting. Roll over in Oregon: http://www.delica.ca/forum/roll-over-in ... +in+oregon was a great story! You posted that just a couple of days after I joined the forum and it made a big impression on me. Great stuff. How's that tough little bus doing nearly a year on? :-D :M

konadog,

Good to hear from you. I remember your original comments on the story...seems like a lifetime ago already.

Yoko is running better than ever thank you and continues on strong and true as my ever faithful daily runner!
Had some service work done at CVI with Butch and Edwin and she's better than ever!

I've never been happier with a vehicle before and I've owned plenty, vans, trucks, hatchbacks, sportscars...my Deli beats the lot, one day I'll own a convertible, but I'm with Yoko til the end!

Had a good time in Whistler just this week and ended up negotiating some pretty hairy roads in 4L, good times all around.

I've got a lot of faith in these buses.

All the best,

No fake. Our auto Delica made 621 km with one fill-up and the light just came on as we took the photo. I assume at least another 50km would be possible. I was quite impressed how the mileage depends on the top speed. We drove around 750km just on logging roads at about 80km/h.

That is amazing.
I'm consistently 450-475 km range before the light goes on from full tank - automatic tranny.
I also can't keep speeds as quoted by others on this site - she ticks over nicely around 100 Km/h on the freeway or slightly over if not fighting a headwind. I'm on the "hilly" north van so that might have a reasonable impact on my mileage also.

Anyone drive the cut much on highway 1 in nvan? I can only hold about 70 Km/h at 3000 rpm in 3rd.....not fully loaded...I sense my little motor might be a bit more tired compared to others (deli tune & IP rebuild done).

I noticed that Erebus' Deli, after the Deli-tune seemed quite gutless as well, he mentioned something about a fuel adjustment that CVI had turned down to completely eliminate smoking, perhaps there's a better compromise a little higher up?

Hmm... The best I can do on the cut is 65 km/h and my van burns 9.8 L / 100 km in a city/highway combined mode.

If I hit the bottom of the cut doing the tun, then by half way up I will likely be in third doing eighty and I can generally hold that number all the way to the top. Typically I will do 8.5 in the city so long as I am driving sensibly and my IP is set right. I am playing with the IP, trying out different settings to see about improving power and kilometreage. Last time I filled up I was getting 7.5 so I have had it tweaked again. Now all I have to work on is my sensibility. My turbo boost PSI is just under nine ~ I think I am going to set it at eight and try to find the sweet spot ~ I think the cut is a good acid test for turbos.

Falco.

im still getting around 375 km a tank on a good run and i coast alot with a light foot? ill have to figure out the actual fuel economy on my next fill up n compare numbers.

Too true. I have to "turn it up" a little. There is no altitude compensator on these IPs, so CVI was adjusting the fuel flow at sea level trying to set it right for 3500 feet (1100m). They missed a little. I just haven't gotten around to adjusting it. Not recommended by CVI for most people to touch.
