+ Lower the transfer case and/or insert an angled shim in between the leaf pack and axle.

My U-joints blew out (rear prop shaft was literally 'loose') 2 weeks ago because of the vibration on the lift and what surprised me was that the vibes were not really pronounced while I was driving. More so on the acceleration in 1/2 gears.

Will vary from one Delica to another. My previous Delica with 2" lift, all that was needed was a 5/8" t-case drop to align the pinion with the yoke.

On my current Delica, even dropping the T-case 1", the pinion/yoke will not align well enough so I need to go to a suspension shop to have them put in the correct shim.

These rear driveshafts are so darn short, they're almost impossible to balance properly (had mine done at a pro-balancing shop).

Just make sure when you do the lift that you cancel out any neg/pos angles in between the rear diff pinion and t-case yoke. Also a rear prop shaft balance wouldn't hurt.

As it sits now, I'll probably go through my new ujoints in 2-3 months unless I get that angle correct.

Aside from that, it's a piece of cake (blackforest) 8-)

I’ve never done a lift before so I do have some questions:
With this lift do you end up sacrificing performance for height? And how will this effect the wheel alignment and steering shaft? What about the drive shaft, will you have to upgrade the drive shaft for a beefier one? And would it be worth while to take the time to weld new leaf perches rather then shims?

No performance loss. In fact body roll/cornering are stiffer = better
Performance loss can be a result of larger tires with or without the lift
Driveshafts are fine for lifts. the are beefy
shim is easy
welding new perches is much more difficult
the outcome is the same

I'd be interested, but I'd have to wait a bit, I just bought a BSG prop on ebay and will be paying it off first. :-D

Battlestar Galactica, I'm a big fan of the new series. After the show wrapped, the company that made the sets and the props auctioned off all the stuff.

(actually, if I had gotten into the show sooner, I probably would have named my van the Heavy Raider vice Landmaster!)

Is this 2'' lift still happening? Or did it quietly go by the way side?

Funny you asked! I tried to get it done through a friend in the Philippines, I was hoping for a cheaper production price but turns out I just found out today that it's not better so I'm getting it done locally this week. The shop I'm dealing with already has all the measurements so it shouldn't take too long to complete...

Thanks again,
David

Update.

Got most of the parts ready. I made 10 kits but some are already spoken for... The shackles didn't come the way I wanted so I'm getting them re-done and they'll be ready within a week. The new ones will look similar but beefier. Those ones can still be used until I get the new ones if you're in a hurry to reach new heights!

The kit includes the following:

2" lift shackles, zinc plated

c.jpg (36.81 KiB) Viewed 6242 times
Tranny spacers (I have two sizes so you get to try which one works better for your van, 1/2" and 5/8")
1" balljoints spacers. They are shimmed to help protect your balljoints from premature wear.

All hardware included as well as longer grease nipples to compensate for the spacers.

The price for the package is $400.

Thanks,
David

As of now 5 kits are spoken for, 1 maybe or later and 1 that I'm saving to give away as a price on the next meet. That leaves me with 3-4 kits still available.

Thanks,
David

Just got the newer shackles, they look great!

I'm not sure if you can tell between the previous pictures but the new ones are like on steroids! Very happy with the result.
Here's a couple pictures before they get zinc plated:

These things weigh 6lbs each, the van will fall apart before they do!

I still have one or two kits available if anyone's interested.

just to revive this post!! I finish my install yesterday and it went fairly well( keep in mind I did it in the PNE parking lot) and got my alignment done today at Dave's alignment in langley. exellent work from these guys and fast( it took 35 minutes, that's it!!!) and now I dont have the lowest van ever anymore :-D . I had only one difficulty, and that is to press the poly bushing in the shocks eye( they are stiff as hell) and beware of the sharp edges under there(3 bashed knuckels  ), otherwise, it is a piece of cake 8-) . later pierre
