That's really a shame. How can you miss THE long weekend trip?! Well, we will have a minute's silence and thing about Miss Lil' Bitchi. Will miss your chainsaw too :-D :-D :M Hope you can make it to the next trip.

I am not sure about our crew either; the forecast is terrible, so it is hard to evaluate the trip against the potential pleasure of being out of town. The only closest place which looks good weather wise is Osoyoos but the travel time would be a killer...

Salut QuebecDelica,

Welcome to the Delica Community, congrats on your new Delica from Chewy, we are looking forward to seeing it (and you, of course).

There will be at least 2 other Quebecers this weekend, so you will feel at home (Jay TardisDeli is Anglo from Dorval, but David Delicat is Proper Quebecois).

I will PM you our phone number, but I think the cell's may not work in the forest, but since the road is blocked with snow, we will be beside the main roads so easy to find. Watch this posting for last minute changes depending on weather.

Cheers, Christine.

Je suis un Montréalais (allophone de Dorval et Beaconsfield) qui demure a cet moment en Calgary. Donc il y a TROIS autre! Hey we might just outnumber the Westerners

Oh no, I forgot that Fred Erebus is quebecois also. Don't say we'll be singing voyageur songs round the campfire. Christine.

Sergiy,

What's up, the Russian crew is afraid of bad weather? I heard camping at Metrotown is real cool on the long weekend. Covered, heated...

Falco, you sure you don't want to change your mind? This is just not like you, must be a woman involved or you don't think your wax will be done on time... Makes me wonder!

Glad to see some fellow Quebecois show up, too bad Pedro won't make it!

Osoyoos would be a longer drive but it's a long weekend after all. I'm open to any destination, as long as I get out of the city!

David

We just noticed today there is no public holiday on Monday (don't know why we thought it would be). For this reason we have to go back on Sunday night :-( So please no long drive. Ross Lake is fine though.

OK all, David Delicat & I have brainstormed: Here is a FINAL PLAN:

First Night (Friday): as already planned, Silver Skagit Road, south of Hope, exit 168.

2nd Night(Saturday): as group plans. David Delicat is checking road conditions:

2nd Night Ideas so Far: Blue Earth Lake Provincial Park (James DocSavage's idea) just north of Spences Bridge on Fraser Canyon. Or Chilliwack Area (Delicat & TardisDeli & Pedro checked out back roads 2 weeks ago so we know what roads were open). Or Kamloops area. Or lower Harrison Lake.

3rd Night (sunday): possibly. Delicat wants to stay camping if anyone else can, but several others need to get back for work on Monday.

So, Friday Meeting places are DEFINITELY:
(Fred, just choose which one works best for you, so you don't need to drive all the way to Burnaby, maybe just wait at HOPE, exit 168, Esso station -- tiny sub-village outside of Hope, just park so Delica is visible from the tiny main road).
10:15am : departure from Ikea, Coquitlam (south parking lot, closest to Freeway, by the Entrance so we can get our $1.00 Scrambled eggs / sausage / Hash Brown Breakfast, with a side of Coffee & HOT cinnamon bun for $1.50
11:30 ish: exit 116 Lickman Road in Chilliwack, head north 1 block to SHell Flying J Truck Stop. fill up cheap diesel with cash payment.
12:15 or 12:30 ish : exit 168 Hope Exit, stop at Esso just a few hundred yards down this Exit to check for any Delica's waiting to join us (Fred?? Profister??). Then backtrack a couple hundred yards back to join the Silver Skagit Road south. Silver Skagit road:the first 2 km are paved, then gravel. Continue to Silver Lake, staying on main road to LEFT at the bridge junction, do NOT take the wooden bridge to the right -- road is too snowy. Just pull over anywhere on the main road (about 17 km in from paved road, 2WD is fine as road clear) park your deli and admire the lake, and wait for all the delica's to putter along, can't get lost there is only 1 road.

Communication:
FRS channel 5 sub 22, "TardisDeli" or generically "Mitsubishi Delica" (del-LEEK-ah)
HAM channel 146.520 simplex for calling. VE6FVD for Fred -- Erebus. VE7JKW for Jay -- TardisDeli.
VHF Marine: channel 16 (156.800 simplex) for calling, must switch to another channel for conversing -- use 69 on VHF marine, or suggest another channel when calling.
Cell Phones: Jay's is always on. Email us if you don't have it.

Thinking Warm Fireside thoughts.
Cheers, Christine.

PS: bring warm boots and thick socks, we will be camping in SNOW.

Esso sounds best for me. If I'm running late I'll phone Jay. No point in going all the way to Burnaby only to backtrack.

Have all programmed into my radios. Will "have my ears on" as they say. My cell will be on too.

Well, the picture below taken on May 1, 2004 proves the opposite but I noticed the correlation between bad weather and higher alcohol consumption. This is my only concern. :-D
Erebus, my crew is going to have a breakfast in Hope ahead of the group so we can meet there: http://www.bluemoosecafe.com/location.php. My ETA is 11 AM.
