That is a really nice van. I asked earlier in the thread but never got a answer. Are the engines in these mounted under the floor?

Hiace looks weak. The front is not menacing like a Delica Star Wagon. It sits lower to the ground. Full-time AWD sucks. I like to choose 2HI or 4HI and the benefit 4 low for racing/offroading. When equiped, Locking front hubs are an awesome plus.

REPEAT AFTER ME: Delica is the only way.

I drive a Subaru now and AWD suits my needs just fine. I know what you mean though about the Delica's looks.

If they are like the others Aces, then yes....under the seats like the 300s.

I drove (owned) a gas 2wd Hiace for a few weeks while waiting for my Delica. They are a nice van, more comfortable interior, the huge 4 person sunroof was awesome and the Joyful Talk feature was awesome (microphones and speakers at each seat). To use it like a Delica is a bit of a stretch as the design is conducive to offroading. If you were just touring mostly highway, get a 2wd one and save on fuel and operating costs. The gas engine is the Toyota 22R used in many pickups for years and easy to fix and get parts. The diesel may need to have a different head put on to overcome some of the cooling issues.

Do Hiaces have in general just AWD, no 4H and 4L?
