you will only get a 12v charger, and a good thing, your battery/s are only 12v.
you can charge it quick (several hours) and it will work, but if you want a seriously good charge, put it on trickle charge, if your budget affords, then pick up a C-tec charger, I have one that will actually bring a 99% dead battery back to life. Im pretty sure Can tire sells them, if not, go to lordco.
you will never need another charger.

I am not convinced that a charger will make any difference, there is almost certainly something else wrong here, if it was just a charge issue the jump start would have worked when left connected for a few minutes....

What is an Etec charger? I was considering getting one of those small solar panel chargers to constantly trickle charge the battery, I'm sure you would need a rectifier/regulator of some sort as well.

if you're talking those chargers that are about a foot long and about 4 inches wide, forget it, they'll never charge your battery enough to notice. The small solar panels don't need a regulator as they don't put out enough juice to worry about.
For solar to do anything worthwhile you need at the bare minimum one of the 1foot square panels. these do require a solar charge regulator, but that's easy to get.
But most importantly, even the best solar array won't help you if you have a drain somewhere, or bad batteries. So your best bet is always to deal with the underlying issues first. (and once you do, you may find that there's no real reason for the solar panels)

woops, wrong Key, I meant to type C-tec battery charger,
Click
http://www.ctek.com to link to them. they really are the best even on a really shaken up battery that most shops will tell you are dead, mine brings them back to life.

Couldent disagree more. it could easily be something else, but if you drained your batteries to much, ive seem 200amp alternator equiped tow trucks have to sit for 20-30 min with the engine on high idol and the juice cranking out,to get them to start.
One thing the vehicles from japan have that are TERRIBLE is the battery terminals, they for some reason have a piece of plastic in the center so only a strip on top and bottom will conduct, you should Always put on new battery terminals, they are very cheap, about a toonie each at lordco , one on the positive ,one on the negative, maybe spring for the extra $5 and get a tube of Di-Electric grease so they will not corrode and your set for many many years of trouble free times , at least with your boosting needs and probably starting if you have a strong battery.

I guess we'll see... but I will be EXTREMELY surprised if a charge, or even new batteries, made any difference here.

i have asked a couple times about the availability of the fuses coming off the + side of my battery. There are 3 each for the Alternator and Glow plugs and etc as illustrated. Are those fuses easy to come by here in Canada ? I assume they are i Just haven't had time to get off the ship to see. I suspect my issue is a combination of a blown fuse and a very drained battery. I will keep you all posted.
cheers

Just confirmed that the fuses are not blown...gonna take the battery to crappy tire and see how dead it is and then go from there

It's not that we don't care about fuses and batteries and things - we do - but some problems are beyond the ability of this forum to diagnose. Yours is very much in this category.
If you want better answers, please ask better questions. "It won't start" could manifest itself in several different ways:
Stone dead, no idiot lights when ignition on.
Idiot lights with ignition on, but no cranking, lights stay on.
Idiot lights with ignition on, but no cranking, lights go out.
Solenoid clicks at "Start" but no cranking.
Engine cranks slowly, but doesn't start.
Engine cranks at normal speed but doesn't start.
From your description of your jump start attempts, I'm concerned you may have fried some of the on-board electronics. L400s are old-school by 2009 standards, but have a lot more electronics than an L300.
All batteries on newly imported vehicles are a priori suspect. I got one Vancouver winter out of Gumdrop's Japanese (actually Korean) batteries before I knew I needed to replace them. I showed Polar Battery the battery compartment, they said "Sure! We sell lots for these things!", and I haven't had any trouble since. I installed new connectors while I was at it, a few bucks well-spent at Canadian Tire. Instead of cranking like a Model A, Gumdrop cranks like a modern car.
Good luck.

I will endevour to be as specific as possible the next time I have an issue and begin looking for help. This Deli is my very first vehicle EVER, so I am new to troubleshooting and jargon and what not(36 years old with a big "L" plastered on the back of my van)...so my apologies. Lesson learned though! I took the old Japanese battery to Canadian Tire out on Admirals (here in Victoria) and they hooked it up to the chummy there to see how much life was left in her: 0.59volts, not too good. "Can't help you at all buddy." So I asked if they had a replacement..."that's a Celica, a Toyota, right?" I could tell things weren't going to go my way. I then headed over to ALL BATTERY
http://www.allbattery.ca/index.php out on Island Highway, got exactly what it appears as though I needed: A brand new battery. Hooked it up; works like a charm! No issues whatsoever, turned over and started right away! Many thanks for all your help everyone!
