Hey everyone,
Just thought I'd write an update on the tire situation. Got my 30x9.5x15 General Grabbers AT2 installed on the rims with no problems. Broke my puny bank on them, but happy to finally have 4 of the same tires, of the same size mounted!
First impressions on the tires is well... wow! It really shows how crummy my last ones were, first thing I noticed is that the ride quality improved greatly, almost feels like I have a new set of shocks. Not as bouncy and seems to absorbe the bumps better. Also the alignment seems better, I'm not wrestling the steering wheel on uneven pavement and, even though this is impossible and is simply my mind playing tricks on me... I have more power! Second thing is road noise, this really impressed me. With my previous set when I would hit 70Kph I would have to turn up the volume on the stereo, then again at 80, at 100 it got difficult to listen to the passanger talking... yes very loud. I thought it was a combination of wind noise and just how the beast sounded, nope, was all the tires. Now I can hear the engine when I'm cruising at 90, couldn't hear anything but tire noise before.
The tires them selves look great, big deep tread pattern that goes an inch or so up the side as well. I think they will work for any application I can get myself into, even have that snow flake symbol on the side which as I understand is required when you drive up to whistler when it's snowing. Also had my first heavy braking situation today and they gripped in the pouring rain without the smallest slip.
So the odds of anyone asking in the future for the following compairison is probably the same as my winning the lotto. But if anyone is thinking of trading in their tires which consist of two 30x9.5x15 Falcon RV and two 225/80/15 Bridgestone Duelers... go for it LOL!
Now I even have a spare tire of the same size as the rest instead of that weird one that I had under the rig to begin with.
Only thing I was debating about is that the 225/80/15 look exactly the same size as the 30x9.5x15's... even took a quick measurement and they looked almost spot on. Tempting to just go with two new ones, but followed everyones advise and went for 4. I'm sure it's the best long term decision anyway.
So, to conclude... when is it going to snow in the GVRD so I can go and play
