haha, I like the modified look for sure and the grinder comes out when the roof gets repaired in the spring...Rhino time! It's something I've carried over from having a civic. If I'm selling a vehicle (not that I plan to ever sell this one) I always revert it back to being stock and then sell my modifications separately. It makes more economic sense in my opinion and I need to be money conscious at this stage in my life (the student stage that is). 8-)

Cardboard is an excellent idea, hopefully not too many tries will have to be done after that... :?

You can see some pics of our LWB 4x4 L300 HERE (we imported it from Holland to France)

@ fexlboi: I still own you some pics of my underbody second battery fitted on our Austrian L300

I really wish we had those over here! Definitely every inch counts for sleeping space. I'm not sure that I'd buy one to do much off-roading in though.

It performs very well off-road. I purchased it in particular for this: 4x4 camper van very capable off-road (but that can be driven downtown if needed).

We have been stuck only once in deep soft sand on a long slope uphill, mainly because i didn't see another car blocked uphill and i had to get out of the tracks. But mainly because i was too lazy to deflate the tires.

Other than that no problem so far and i don't see much of a difference with our SWB 4x4 delica (we had one in England and currently a second one in Austria, that i should sell by the way because i bought another car but i can not resolve to do it!)

I don't doubt it would perform well offroad, there is just the situation of beaching it on a rolling hill (which I've done in the past and is why I like tall vehicles with short wheel bases now) If you're careful and make sure you don't go over things like that I suppose it wouldn't be an issue.
I was young and dumb...come to think of it, I'm still young but hopefully not quite so dumb. :?

I get your point but the trade-off was very simple for me: LWB gives us 5 seats (4 in fact with the fridge and sink on the side) + permanent L bed in the back. That's perfect for a family camper van.

That really does sound perfect! I'm experimenting with a bed in the middle that folds up into a couch to allow for 3 people to sit on the rear bench seat. That doesn't allow for too much space for anything else though. Definitely not a fridge, stove or even much luggage. Oh well, you have to work with what you have right!?
