EDIT: Jfarsang where did your post go? (He asked on Glo-Shift gauge quality).

Good question,

I researched this particular gauge thoroughly including reading through about 20+ pages of data on a Dodge truck forum and gathered a few pieces of info.

1) The technical support appears very good, Glo-shift was actively posting on the Dodge forums and giving the members what they asked for. (Update face plates, different facing, increased EGT accurracy etc). There were far more happy memebrs then unhappy members and those who had issues were taken care of.

2) The gauge is truly digital and available in wide variety of formats such as different digital and analog combinations, (EGT, boost and temp). You can get the "dial" to display EGT or boost. I liked that.

3) I wanted EGT, Boost and Trans Temp. for $150 shipped (coupon code, bought off their site not from eBay for better support) nothing else came close. In fact I can buy an extra guage with the saving of not having to do this with seperate or more expensive gauges.

Now that being said, I did have the gauge lock up on me, and appear "dead" once since install ( 2 weeks after). I had a low battery in the Deli, it would not start. After boosting it from a battery pack, the gauge was dead. Some might have called the gauge "dead" at this point and time, (hence some of the user reports). Now knowing this is a DIGITAL gauge and runs off a micro-provessor, and that it is ALWAYS powered (even when it appears off), I tried pulling the negative battery terminal a few hours later (after on/off ignition did not work) and this restored the guage. No problems since, but low battery levels are not good for constantly powered electronic devices so will have to monitor that in the future. (Transitors stop holding / flowing current properly and micro-processors lose their clock signal or "stable" state as digital electronics like ON/OFF not GREY or in between states.)

Hope that helps,

Steve

Didn't think it was appropriate being a performance thread :-D

I heard mixed pro's and con's about the sending units on the glowshifts but it's only from a few people who I know used them.

In case others are looking to increase the power output of their 4m40 2.8 TD, this thread:

in unparrelled in 4M40 specific tuning information, on the net anyways.
