My brother in law went to burning man last year. I commented to him that many of the Delicans were interested in travelling down to the venue... He stated if you care much about your paint job you will travel in another type of vehicle. He says the sand storms are wicked, so much so that you could barely see your own hand in front of you. He tells me that people put 2L POP bottles over their tent poles so people will not trip over them. He had a great time, slept in his 2002 honda civic which he could care less about. I guess if your looking for a paint stripper or help with the rust take the Delica....
Betty was just painted so she's not going

I took my l400 last year to BM and it was amazing. Well that was actually on the way from my 6month trip from vancouver to phoenix, az (through amazing utah) and then switching back up the coast and stopped over at burning man. Incredible experience, and the deli did fine, it's just that i wouldn't recommend sleeping in it because you pretty much come back to your van when the sun is already up and it is way too hot to sleep. Thankfully the playa provides awesome luxuries like chill out zones for those times where you just don't know where you have parked or that you can't be bothered trekking back on the other side of the city. Yes it is huge!

Indeed
The GF and I would like to go this year, and it may happen. We would for sure take the StarWagon.
If it happens we can't make it this year, next year is a for sure.

I'll be there, but I am driving down in a big-ass RV with 4 pervy friends instead of the Delica.

I've been to Burning Man 5 times - driving from Ontario no less! Each time has been utterly amazing and different. The desert is a heartless mistress, but she rewards those who brave her dusty, hot embrace...
Anything you bring down there will come back covered in thin dust...

I've just returned from Burning Man 2012. The Delica held up well! (more than I can say for my body). Any tips on post-Burning Man maintenance? Change air filter? How do you avoid alkaline playa dust from eating your engine up? Any ideas welcome!
cheers.

I changed my air filter the moment I left the playa (I'd deliberately brought a spare). It was well clogged too.
