No it shouldn't be. (I'll double check tonight) Do not T into the drain line, just at the point where the line enters the pan. The critical element is that the drain sits above the oil pan level. If its below it would require pressure.

But the threads don't match the filters I got. :(
I can only screw the filters on for 3/4 of a turn, then they stop dead. :(
Did I miscalculate?
