The cutting mod is only required if you have a sway bar at the back. If you don't theen you're fine just as it is. If you have one just mark where you want it cut and bring it to a muffler shop with a beer, they'll have it faster than they can drink the beer...

And if you want one I'd probably contact MaxO/D directly just in case he doesn't notice your reply...

The "1700" you are asking about is kilograms, and I wouldn't want to pull that much in these - at least not up and down hills. Remember, it's only an 85hp engine, so it will only be able to handle so much. This is from my post about driving to Calgary and back with a little utility trailer and a full van:

The Number 3 highway is a wonderful road, through some of Canada's most varied terrain: a huge river delta, lush orchards, a desert (Canada's only), semi-desert, a mountain range and another and another and another, high mountain meadows, etc. Only thing not on the Number 3 is arctic and tropical!

Did I mention mountains? There are four mountain ranges between the ocean and Calgary: the Coast Mountains, the Columbias, the Cascades, and the Canadian Rockies - that's a lot of up and down. Worst of it is, the Number 3 is the steepest of it! Kootenay Pass was nearly the end of it at 1774m, but I managed to keep the rpms and speed down such that the temperature needle was just shy of the red. Of course, two adults, four children, two dogs and a utility trailer with all sorts of stuff in it didn't help, but at least we didn't take the tent trailer (I think Moon Machine would have boiled over for sure). Still, we made it and that was the part of the road I was most worried about.

Can anyone tell me if the MaxOD hitch takes a 2" or a 1 1/4" receiver?

i just purchased one of these hitches and its great!!! affordable and mounts really easy. i have been towing a utility trailer and snowmobile. no problems at all.

these are great hitches. i just ordered one in December and have been using it since. i was just 4X4 ing on a sled road and got stuck pretty bad. used the hitch bar to rig my ratchet/tow rope to a tree and pulled it out. no movement at all on the hitch mounts. you also have options on how far the mount retreats out of or into the back of van. there are about 5 x 1" apart holes. i dont think you can adjust the clearance though. that is fixed.
i have towed my utility trailer with a snowmobile (900 lbs) and dint even feel the load or have any problems. the 2" receiver allows an additional (200-500 lbs) of weight on the hitch. so thats better than a 1.5" reciever.

Just installed my MaxOD hitch, and it's great. Went in fairly easy, no modification required (didn't have to grind anything). Included all the mounting hardware required EXCEPT the 2 long bolts that go all the way through the frame for the top-most mounting location. Also the hitch has to be mounted in the rear-most position possible or the spare tire won't fit. This reduces the mounting strength somewhat as it means that the two mounting bolts are close together and the hitch won't be able to take as much tongue weight as it would otherwise. But for my purposes (towing a light zodiac on a trailer) it will work just fine. oh....and the hitch doesn't include the ball mount (at least, mine didn't). Perhaps it did in 2008, but not any more....

Just out of curiosity, do other hitch systems work for the Delica? It seems as though the one on offer from Max Overdrive is specially designed for Delicas, but how do other, perhaps more standard hitch systems fare? Any input would be much appreciated,
