Way cool Jesse. Are you still trying to source a V6 Pajero front Axle too?

There is a Port Alberni Delica that installed a lunch box locker a year ago, but as you'd know the reasons, may have removed one or both since. Air locks are at the top of that food chain though, very nice.

What are you using for a compressor, and did you buy local or ship it in? The cost isn't bad, about the same as putting our oldest through 6 months of college. :o

Cheers

I would love a locker... I just don't see any way to justify it to myself though...

I know they are an amazing piece of kit, and are the one mod that will make the biggest difference off road (with the possible exception of tires) probably even more important than the 4x4 itself...

That said, since getting the delica, and it having the LSD, I haven't even come close to stuck (mind you i don't do any real serious offroading either, just minor stuff)

Let us all know how much it costs, and how easy the install is... it's one of those mods that I have no real use for, but could probably be talked in to anyway... ;-)

If you'd buy it new and pay for the install, it would come out to about 1,000-1,300 or so for the rear.

I'm fortunate to get it through a friend and be able to do the install myself at his shop.

Until you've had a locked (axle) vehicle, you just don't realize how amazing these things are.

Putting it simply, I would take a set of lockers over a winch any day.

99% of the time in any situation/terrain, a locked vehicle will not need a winch.

I'm not talking about rock crawling or serious climbing.

Just normal things you would come across off road.. streams, washouts, muddy roads, flooded roads, soft sand, etc... with an open/lsd differential, you get slip at some point and one or more wheel will spin depending on where the torque/grip is applied.

With the lockers, all 4 wheels turn with equal power so you just literally mow over everything. No need to floor it and spin the tires like mad to get through/up anywhere.

They are the most useful things for any vehicle off pavement.

They just cost an arm and a few legs. :o :-D

well... 3 wheels anyway... (Unless there's a second locker being installed on the front diff that I didn't notice...)

I have a friend with a G Wagon (comes with factory lockers) he's just in love with them.

1000 to 1300 though isn't bad for lockers with install... you've now got me planning something that I really have no use for... but would be so much fun! ;-)

Did you figure out the proper locker, I thought you had ordered the wrong one? I know of 1 "locked" Deli in Vancouver... And I've heard of Noel's front conversion but I've also heard of Sasquatch and never saw any... 8-)

I guess this post will remain at "pt1"! 8-)
